The tacky decorations are out; the awful commericals are on TV; how dare they?

The Christmas season should be Thanksgiving to January 3-8. after that, no more.

I think the appropriate day to start the decorations and whatnot of Christmas, the day after Thanksgiving. This year that would be November 24th. I think that these stores shouldn't skip over other Holidays to show whether or not the other is more superior. Just my opinion.

Those commercials have been out since before Halloween. Its disgusting.

Christmas, excuse me, Xmas, should be confined to December, MAYBE a little after it.
Certainly not before Thanksgiving.

Why doesnt anybody show the good Christmas cartoons anymore? Oh, I forgot, theyre not politically correct. Rudolph is a subversive clay reindeer who is going to make your children hate black people and Muslims >_>

I think the Macy's parade should be the start of Christmasy stuff.

are the 12 days of christmas those running up to it or those following it? if they're those running up to it then 12 days before xmas is appropriate. otherwise, i'd say xmas eve.

They didn't think it was appropriate to move Christ's birthday back to the midwinter solstice just for symbolism and pagan compatability.

i never got the point of advent. all it meant for me was poking bits of card to read random bible quotes, i was never allowed a chocolate advent calender. rubbish.

Anyways, Christmas is more like a business holiday than anything. The rich get richer.

Actually, the 12 days of Christmas are the 25th to January 6th (the Epiphany).

The day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Day. December 26th should be the ramp up to New Years celebrations.

For the US, the day after thanksgiving untill christmas itself. After that, it becomes new years, and after that, massive sales on all sorts of stuff you'll never use (inventory sales!)

It's not the holiday season until Bill O'Reilly starts whining about 'the war on Christmas'.

I'd say early to mid-December would be acceptable, i'd say.

Absolutely nothing. The Middle East, where the whole Jesus thing takes place, doesn't get any snow, therefore its quite irrelevent.

Well, I mean, in the northern USA it always snows around Christmas, but most Christmas songs are about snow and don't mention Christmas at all.

And I'm in an area that doesn't get snow around Christmas.

True. I guess the Christmas-y feeling is invoked when one hears about snow, since its often associated with it in the media. You're more likely to see snow-covered evergreen trees decorated with Xmas lights more often as opposed to palm trees decorated with Xmas lights (in the media).

Well. You could always replace the parts of the song where they mention snow with other forms of precipitation. :D

Anyhoo, too much Christmass preparation leaves you all puggled oot for Hogmany. Can’t be having that...

Start at the beginning of Lent, building up with each week. End around Little Christmas in January.
