...got married! Or yesterday, anyway. :) :) :) I'm wasn't going to come straight home and go on NS after my wedding! But we had a little 'problem', thats now been resolved - I'll tell you later what we decided to do. But i was just wondering what you lot would do in the following situation?
I'm from Luxembourg and have lived in Luxembourg for nearly all my life (I spent two years in Congo and Uganda doing charity stuff) but my then boyfriend is Australian and lives in Australia. So we had to choose were to live. Where would you choose?

Anyway, back to celebrating.

So...WHY are you on NS right after your wedding again?

Congratulations on your wedding!

I'd live in New Jersey, but it's not for everybody.

I'm not. i'm on it a day afterwards. And remember the time difference - its very late here, and my husbands friends have just rung up to congratulate him - and me, once he finally gets off the phone, so he's busy, but I've got nothing to do. So why not?

Congratulations, Maria!

My initial impulse would be to live where I was most familiar, so if I were you I'd have gone for Luxembourg, but then again, if I really loved the guy enough to marry him, I suppose I could allow myself to be talked into Australia (you mustn't let him think he's getting away with something, after all).

I haven't been to either place, but Australia seems like a pretty nifty place from what I've seen. Plus, they have kangaroos!

I love Spain, but, I wanted to live in an already set up house (ie, mine or his) rather than have to start all over again.

The answer...
...I let myself be persuaded to move to Australia. I still need to fill in all those forms with their funny point system etc, but the furniture is on its way. But some of the old stuff is so huge it wouldn't have been very convinient on a plane -it had to go by ship! It'll take ages to get there! (The item in question was a 'sidecabinet' that covered the entire sidewall of my sitting room! And i'm not leaving it behind as it cost shedloads of money to have shipped over from Hong Kong two hundred years ago. So I coughed up the money for a space on the ship)

Though, with my luck, the ship'll sink in sight of Australia. *touches wood*

As to the question of where to live, I'm afraid I won't be any help as I've only visited Luxembourg, and then only for a day.

Ends of the earth? I believe the other option was Australia, and it's not exactly a backwater.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy yourself here, but given you're newly married, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. ;) :p

I say have the best of both worlds. Live for a couple of years here in Aus, then go back to Luxembourg for a couple of years.

Edit: Which part of Aus are you moving to?

Congratulations on the marriage. :) And enjoy Australia. If you're living anywhere near Melbourne, find Kanabia and bug him about my chocolate...;)

I'd have preferred to stay in Europe, and, as an English speaker, I would have enjoyed living somewhere where it's not an official language. But then, this isn't about me.

I would have gone to Australia, too, I think. But then I'm from Germany, so Luxembourg isn't all that exotically enticing. :p

You might get swooped by vicious magpies on the way here from the airport and lose an eyeball. It's safer if you give me the money for a flight to Europe. :)

I'd live in Luxembourg, even though Australia is cool.

Luxembourg just seems/looks awesome. Such a rich, elite place with a cool culture and sweet language.

Though like I said, Australia is cool and not a bad place to live at all. Sure beats Uganda and Congo;) :p
