Nepal. Nobody ever thinks about Nepal. I'll bet they're planning something. If not the government, then the Maoist rebels will someday launch spectacular attacks against their neighbors India and China and spark a third world war.

Nepal, sure. Or Bhutan. I hear Tonga is a hotbed of revolutionary activity, too.

Didn't Nepal's civil war end yesterday? Quite possible the start of a peaceful, prosperous period for the country.

Doesn't Bhutan share a border with Nepal? Imagine a Nepal/Bhutan/Tonga axis of evil attempting to destroy Western culture and enforce backward Nepalese customs like drinking tea with yak butter.

That's terrible. Now the king, the parliament, and the Maoists will be working together to conquer the world.

Define 'world security'.

It's not straight-forward at all, when one nation is secure, another is put in danger. A Westerner may feel secure in knowing that America might be increasing their military capacities, but an Arab wouldn't feel secure at all.

Who says that a Westerner would feel secure?

There is a confluence of greatest likelihood of chaos/violence and greatest potential amount thereof, and I'd have to say they meet in East Asia.

When i said 'world security' i meant it in an open way. So you can interpret it in your own way as long as its reasonable. For example you could say the US is the biggest threat to world security becuase its the biggest factor in global warming which can lead to the collapse of econamies etc.

Hmm ... so if the US mobilized its huge manufacturing potential, we could provide security blankets to everyone in the world and thereby become one of the greatest benefactors to world security, right? This could work. Get me Karl Rove on the phone, I think I've just found George W's legacy!

I would rather not need them though.

But everyone would be all secure and happy and content, no one would give a rodent's posterior about who has bombs or who stole what land from whom or any of that. I think it could work. It would certainly stop silly threads like this one.

St. Kitts and Nevis.
They may be small, but I sense something disastrous lurking around that nation.

#1 is the united states. duh. we all live in fear that the US will start another useless war in the mideast or north korea. or that our hamhanded approach to diplomacy will fail to cool down tensions in other areas like pakistan/india.

#2 is the middle east, adding in afghanistan and pakistan. they have way too many people aching for a fight against the great satan of israel/"the west".

#3 is africa. not so much today even though most of the continent is in trouble. the AIDS epidemic is leaving millions of orphans who have little or no real parenting, love, caring, guidance in their lives that all people need in order to grow up to be reasonable adults. africa is breeding a generation of psychopaths and sociopaths. some tiny fraction of those will turn out to be dynamic leaders who will have no mercy on their people or on the rest of the world. its only a matter of time before africa gets much much worse.

I am the one who evicted Cthulu from R'lyeh, I let him have a nice summer cottage on Nevis, and I told him that if he was a good boy, I'd let him use the internet once a day for a half hour. He's using AOL, after all.

I voted for every country but the US; we are the world's police, the very antithesis of posing a risk. All the other countries are potential criminals, especially Middle Eastern ones.

I went with the EU member countries.

Everyone knows how dangerous the middle east and North Korea are. And Russia's been bipolar for years. Plus, the US has enormous power, so no one trusts them.

Which lets the EU spread its views insidiously without anyone being terribly concerned about it.
