During one of my lectures today, we came across them topic of rape and how transexuals can comitt it or be raped with their surgically altered.....er.....things.
Now that got me thinking which toilets do they use? The ones for the sex they were born as or the other ones?

Just curious.

I think that once they start the process of changing their sex they get a note from their doctor that says they should use the new sex's restroom.

It's not a difficult question. Whichever gender the person sees him or herself as, that would be the facility of choice.

Unfortunately, pre-op (or with no intent to get the operation), some transgendered people are denied access to the bathroom of their choice by patrons of that bathroom.

I suppose, but I should think that with a little discretion and properly applied make-up, no one would be the wiser.

Whatever their biological gender is. I'm all for human rights and everything, but just because you have yourself surgically altered to look like a cat that doesn't mean I'm going to let you piss in my garden. If you are biologically still a male, you should only use the male toilets

Did anyone else pay more attention to the former jobs of the Italian government than to the story?

And if someone is surgically altered, how would you know?

Without intending to sound rude, it's usually quite obvious what gender someone biologically is (unless they are intersexed) when they've had a sex change - they still have features that make it obvious, such as the shape of their face, Adam's Apple, voice, etc.

If I was an Italian tax-payer I would be outraged at the Italian government for fitting a transgender toilet for ONE representitive who might not even be there by the next election - just because ONE other representitive felt prudish. I'd tell them to just shut up and get on with it, and that it is not fair to waste public funds on such a stupid problem.

Not been in the Navy, I guess. "Head" is the standard term for the toilet on a ship, comes from "cathead" which "a heavy piece of timber projecting from each bow of a ship for holding anchors which were fitted with a stock in position for letting go or for securing after weighing." Seems that's where you went when you needed to go on sailing vessels.

Really. So bathrooms are set according to biology? Where then is the 'intersexed' bathroom?

Bathrooms are separated according to gender. What the hell does it matter to you if a 'biological' female who is gendered male uses 'your' bathroom? Does it somehow stop you from taking a shit?

I'd love to offer you the opportunity to choose from a line-up of friends who are male-to-female transsexuals, and biological females. You would be embarrased with your inability to choose correctly.

Sometimes I use the mens room in our office building if I really have to go and there's absolutely no chance of anyone walking in (there are 20 employees in our building, 4 of which are male).

I don't think it matters so much in the womens restroom as it does the mens, as all the toilets in the womens are in stalls and no one can see which gender you technically are anyway. Moms frequently bring their little boys when they have to go.

I've done that in some places, used the men's room when there was a wait at the women's. Particularly in restaurants where the facility was a one-person one. And I made sure that I didn't leave any female cooties in the Men's, I know they get upset about that.

Italy's first transsexual MP, a flamboyant 41-year-old television star, has caused a storm in the houses of parliament by using the female lavatories...

...

She was found in the ladies' lavatory by Elisabetta Gardini, a former showgirl who is now a spokesman for Forza Italia, the party led by Silvio Berlusconi.

The Italian Parliament sounds...unique.

I really don't see why it matters. I don't want to see someone voiding their bowels regardless of their gender, and I certainly don't go to the washroom to peep on others or display myself for their gratification....which is what I think a lot of people are implicitly believing about transgendered people and their choice of bathrooms. Sure, there are people who use bathrooms for sexual purposes and/or voyeurism...but I don't think transgendered people are more prone to it.
