Other than that, the feeling just after finishing listening to/playing a particularly emotional piece of music, it doesn't have to be an emotion like love, just a strong emotion that you get connected with that piece of music.

I prefer the calm finality of finally completing a long task you have fully devoted yourself too. I also enjoy the feelings of pure existence I sometimes get when around people I truly trust and care about.

As far as something not wholly physical- the feeling you get when newly in love. Being in love long term has a sweet comfortable feeling, but not that high you get when you've just fallen in love.

Despite the fact that we don't all agree with the ideas of the song, it was amazing to be sitting together, making total asses out of ourselves, laughing, having fun, singing horribly at the tops of our lungs, and just generally enjoying being alive and together.

Short version: Friends.

That insanely giddy feeling of being 'baked'.

1. Working on, particularly programming, something very interesting and intellectually challenging, continuously having made great progress for quite a while, and getting it all working exactly the way it should.
2. Lying down comfortably, about to sleep, while very, very tired.
3. That weird, bubbly feeling of maniacal glee that puts a maniacal grin on your face and makes you want to laugh like an RPG-villain in the process of taking over the world. There is no sweeter emotion.
4. Being very intensely involved into a challenging, fascinating game with precisely the kind of epicness that the real world sorely lacks, a kind of massive sense of depth. Too bad it only works the first time playing through a game, due to my excellent memory. Examples of such games include: Chrono Trigger, FF VI, Phantasy Star III & IV (though I & II add to the feeling of those by enriching that massive history of the multiple worlds with two additional time-periods 2000 and 1000 years back, respectively)

The best feeling that I can think of off the top of my head is...

When I'm pitching (baseball), and I'm in the zone. Normally I shy away from the spotlight, but when I'm in the game, and my team is behind me, and the sun is shining; when everything I throw is fooling the batter, when I'm outplaying and outhinking the whole other team... Thats a pretty great feeling. I have no doubts and no mistakes. Everything is natural but automatic. It's a great feeling.

As for myself I've pinned down six distinct feelings, each slightly different, unrivaled by anything in my life.

Two are physical, three mental/emotional, and one both. Five are invoked or enhanced tremendously by one drug or another.

As for the physical feelings, both stem from the use of psychedelics (namely mushrooms. I suspect these are both possible with something other then the wonderful, fungus but I've yet to experience that).

There is a particular time during the come-up of somewhat high doses, in which a sort of pure euphoria sets in. Listening to some particularly intense music, (Cities of the Future by Infected Mushroom, I think might have been made for this. As seem a number of Infected Mushroom songs.) and doing something which you would normally enjoy, (or just watching/being around something good. I don't believe anyone could actually "do" much of anything in this state) can bring on a sensation so mind-wrackingly wonderful (and long lasting- I've experienced this for maybe 30-45 minutes at a time) that I doubt the human capacity to experience a greater pleasure.

The second feeling, also invoked by high doses of mushroom, is far shorter, and possessive of a different "flavor." It is as if one could capture the moment of the most intense orgasm one has ever had, to possess it's essence. That particular orgasm would not only be multiplied in feeling several times, but also spread to the entire body.

It only lasts a brief second, but it comes often (possibly several times in a minute) once one is in the mode to bring it about.

If I could describe it in a phrase I would call it "Being squeezed by the Hand of God."

No other physical feeling has ever compared to either of these two. The best, strongest, longest-lasting orgasm I've ever experienced is but a glimmer of these sensations.

As for the purely mental/emotional wonders, one is inherently drugular, one enhanced by drugs, and one is a product of a wonderful sobriety.

I would have to say that connecting emotionally, while physically intimate (whatever form that takes), having consumed psychedelics of some kind, is one of the superiormost experiences one can have.

Also, when sleep deprived this can occur, but more often it happens with a combination of cannibinoids and sleep dep (It's actually somewhat rare for cannibinoids to do this. Of course, I don't partake in them much.). One can enter into a state in which many more things then normal are funny, and that which is normally funny is elevated to a level where one's stomach becomes locked with paroxysms of laughter, where breathing becomes nigh-impossible, and one is pleading for a respite. It's physically exhausting, but utterly wonderful.

The last purely mental experience, I have only had once. I'm not entirely sure what caused it, but it was amazing, if not quite as thrilling/intense as the aforementioned times.

Simply stated, my mind felt cleared, above and beyond normal functioning. I was awake, alert, full of calm energy, and glad to be conscious. I was peaceful, serene, and ready for anything.
It didn't last for long, but it was a lovely experience.

The last experience, I've had once (though I don't doubt I can reproduce it), on a low dose of psychedelics (mushrooms again, and again, I believe it possible to reproduce with others). I was exceptionally clear headed and lucid for a mushroom trip, and decided to go for a walk. I met someone (damned cool guy) on that walk, we went to a playground, and I, being filled with a wonderful energy and sense of vitality ran around, swinging, doing pull-ups on the equipment, dropping randomly and doing pushups, etc.

Somehow my newfound friend aquired some mushrooms from me, and I re-dosed. We began walking/jogging around, speaking deeply (mostly me going off on various subjects, him questioning or commenting once in a while) and me dancing.

The night ended with him getting picked up by a friend, we hugged, I went home. There was such life and energy in me that night!

The feeling of getting back a test and finding that you had the top score in the class is a pretty awesome feeling.

Absolutely agreed. I would add, though being so involved in any story, not merely a game, produces a wonderful effect. (But games are usually the best, for the ability to do rather then just follow)

Wow... You have my sympathy. It seems like everything about the situation was rather wrong for a meaningful or pleasurable psychadelic experience, especially for one not already accustomed to it.

Certainly not what I'm feeling right now, which is brokenhearted. But I do love the feeling I get when I walk through "Cast and Crew Only" doors at a theatre, and when I come out for curtain call, or look at a cast list, and see my name, etc, etc. I also feel incredible after I go for a run, stretch every limb, and shower for twenty minutes. And the feeling of having my driver's liscense, which makes me feel quite grown up.

My few experiences before marraige with hallucenogens were with my sister sitting. I didn't have any particuliarly interesting trips then.

- getting a good grade on an assignment after working really hard

If you ask me, the joy is not in arriving at the destination, but in the journey, and it's best when you're ALMOST there.

To me, the best physical feeling is the period just BEFORE the climax ("ALMOST there"), not the climax itself ("arriving at the destination")

And I think the best emotional feeling is, as Congo said, sharing love - holding each other in your arms, knowing that you are loved by each other, your minds set at ease by that love, not saying very much at all except maybe exchanging "I love you"s with one another, because you both just enjoy hearing it.

To experience BOTH at the same time - all I can say is "wow" with an ethereal, otherworldly, euphoric look on my face. I cannot imagine what that must be like, and to try to imagine it just blows my mind, but I covet it with every fiber of my being.

I find the taste of sushi in your mouth to be rather sensual and sinful. Its rather heavenly I must admit. :)

As for myself I've pinned down six distinct feelings, each slightly different, unrivaled by anything in my life.

Two are physical, three mental/emotional, and one both. Five are invoked or enhanced tremendously by one drug or another.

As for the physical feelings, both stem from the use of psychedelics (namely mushrooms. I suspect these are both possible with something other then the wonderful, fungus but I've yet to experience that).

There is a particular time during the come-up of somewhat high doses, in which a sort of pure euphoria sets in. Listening to some particularly intense music, (Cities of the Future by Infected Mushroom, I think might have been made for this. As seem a number of Infected Mushroom songs.) and doing something which you would normally enjoy, (or just watching/being around something good. I don't believe anyone could actually "do" much of anything in this state) can bring on a sensation so mind-wrackingly wonderful (and long lasting- I've experienced this for maybe 30-45 minutes at a time) that I doubt the human capacity to experience a greater pleasure.

The second feeling, also invoked by high doses of mushroom, is far shorter, and possessive of a different "flavor." It is as if one could capture the moment of the most intense orgasm one has ever had, to possess it's essence. That particular orgasm would not only be multiplied in feeling several times, but also spread to the entire body.

It only lasts a brief second, but it comes often (possibly several times in a minute) once one is in the mode to bring it about.

If I could describe it in a phrase I would call it "Being squeezed by the Hand of God."

No other physical feeling has ever compared to either of these two. The best, strongest, longest-lasting orgasm I've ever experienced is but a glimmer of these sensations.

As for the purely mental/emotional wonders, one is inherently drugular, one enhanced by drugs, and one is a product of a wonderful sobriety.

I would have to say that connecting emotionally, while physically intimate (whatever form that takes), having consumed psychedelics of some kind, is one of the superiormost experiences one can have.

Also, when sleep deprived this can occur, but more often it happens with a combination of cannibinoids and sleep dep (It's actually somewhat rare for cannibinoids to do this. Of course, I don't partake in them much.). One can enter into a state in which many more things then normal are funny, and that which is normally funny is elevated to a level where one's stomach becomes locked with paroxysms of laughter, where breathing becomes nigh-impossible, and one is pleading for a respite. It's physically exhausting, but utterly wonderful.

The last purely mental experience, I have only had once. I'm not entirely sure what caused it, but it was amazing, if not quite as thrilling/intense as the aforementioned times.

Simply stated, my mind felt cleared, above and beyond normal functioning. I was awake, alert, full of calm energy, and glad to be conscious. I was peaceful, serene, and ready for anything.
It didn't last for long, but it was a lovely experience.

The last experience, I've had once (though I don't doubt I can reproduce it), on a low dose of psychedelics (mushrooms again, and again, I believe it possible to reproduce with others). I was exceptionally clear headed and lucid for a mushroom trip, and decided to go for a walk. I met someone (damned cool guy) on that walk, we went to a playground, and I, being filled with a wonderful energy and sense of vitality ran around, swinging, doing pull-ups on the equipment, dropping randomly and doing pushups, etc.

Somehow my newfound friend aquired some mushrooms from me, and I re-dosed. We began walking/jogging around, speaking deeply (mostly me going off on various subjects, him questioning or commenting once in a while) and me dancing.

The night ended with him getting picked up by a friend, we hugged, I went home. There was such life and energy in me that night!

I have to agree with you on the mushroom thing.
It is even more amazing when you have grown them yourself.
Growing mushrooms is an amazing experience and is quite rewarding in and of itself.
I have had some good trips and some bad ones.
The bad ones were mostly triggered by other people "bringing me down" so to speak.
But 'shrooms with good friends or your lover can be a very emotionally bonding experience

The Best, most emotionally rewarding experiences I have ever had, were holding my newborn children.
I was there when my sons were born and they handed both of them to me, after they cleaned them up a bit ;) , and there is no feeling that comes close to having that tiny little life that you helped create in your arms.

Of course now, each day, I get the joy of having my 2 year old run up to me when I get home from a hard days work and wrap himself around my leg and beg to be picked up for a hug.
That is a damn good feeling too :)

The first two because they both have "a very powerful (and painful) effect on the nasal membranes if eaten carelessly." The third for two reasons: 1) Intellectual pleasure at the thought of experiencing extreme pain while not suffering any injury, or experiencing extreme levels of "electrical signals intrepreted by your brain" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix) but ultimately realizing that it is entirely harmless; 2) the effects of the counter-acting Endomorphines, a floating feeling.

the pain for it was less than getting my ears pierced (mind you, the average ear piercing is 16 or 18 gauge...mine was 10. Significantly thicker needle), but I hadn't had enough to eat or drink that day, and so almost passed out.
