Sweet Jesus I Hate Computers!
Working on one of the boss' home machines now. It's a nightmare, a Dell Dimension 4300s, the hard drive died so I'm trying to fix it by putting in a new drive and trying to restore everything with no CDs for the machine. I found a 98 CD, working on the display drivers now. Of course Dell uses some cheap mickey mouse ATI card that was discontinued in the late 80s that you can't find a bloody driver for anywhere, so at the moment I'm reduced to 16 colors and 640x480 resolution.
I wish I was kidding, just getting it on the internet was a trial.

Did you suggest that these people might want to come into the 21st century where computers can actually function?

Your question being? :p
That 16 colour thing is kinda annoying.

Funnily enough, that's what people made do with in the late 80s. :P
(I figure you meant 90s...)

I'd rather have my good old monochrome monitor than this POS and it's lousy display drivers. Even ATI's supposed "Legacy" drivers don't work for it.
Never ever buy a dell.

But he said...

What else would you expect it to do? ;)
(As I said, I think he meant 90s, though.)

I always build my own machines. Although I cannibalised an old Dell 17 inch monitor.

I used to do that all the time, but it's getting more complex every time to make sure all the parts play nice. It's getting to the point where I can't be bothered.
