Road Rage in the 21st century

Everyone who drives has experienced it. Some asshole tailgating rather than passing you, a pair of idiots driving side by side below the speed limit and keeping you from passing, being cut off, all the joys of driving in a world where half of all people are below average. Once you could only throw stuff at them, run them off the road, or shoot randomly into their vehicle, but now there is an internet-based alternative.

A new website allows you to post the license plate number, make model and color of the car, and a description of the events. Sounds like a good start, but it would be much better if police monitored the site and made a point of being on the lookout for drivers reported to be assholes.

We have a specific hotline over here that we can call to report dangerous or irresponsible drivers. I'm not sure about a website, though.

And you'd think that a graduate licensing system would keep them off the road. But noooo! It keeps good drivers away.

You'd think so, wouldn't you...

On the way home from getting my learners permit (I wasn't driving), some random idiots decided to throw a bag full of fast-food rubbish all over the windscreen. And then, my first or second time actually taking a driving lesson, I was cut off while going around a roundabout. The idiot driving something resembling an SUV got impatient with me - I guess I was being too slow for him. All the while my learner-plates were on full display, too. Heh.

I now use public transport exclusively.

wait'll people start abusing it as revenge against ex boyfriends, fueding neighbors, etc.

Aside from that-there are so many defects driving around-its a full time job just staying aware of them as you drive.
I drive very defensively these days. I'm never late or in a big rush. The last thing I want to happen is to have a minor scrape or misunderstanding on the road degenerate into a violent confrontation, which so many people seem ready to engage in.
Why do people get so mad when they are in the car? Do they get some false sense of security being behind the wheel of a car?

Transit is better for that. You're in a bigger vehicle.

Why not? Aren't you allowed to travel more than a mile or two away from your home?

Trains and busses? Very inconvenient in the USA.

but very convenient in Poland.

well, actually just trains. the "add 30 minutes to the time your ride takes for all the times you will be stuck behind a tractor" rule applies to both cars and intercity busses, making them both inconvenient.

It is this reason I like Europe - public transit doesn't suck!

If I entered everyone on the road who pissed me off onto that site, I'd be spending half of my day doing so. Here in Vegas, horrible driving seems to be a favorite passtime.

I also need to get me a big stack of those "I park like an idiot" bumper stickers (http://www.iparklikeanidiot.com/)
