What is your favourite Beatles album (including both UK and US releases)?

Personally, my favourite is Revolver, the moment when the Beatles went psychedelic :D

Lol...no Beatles albums by ex-beatles members (for all you John Lennon fans:p ) or anyone who sounds similar but are not actually the Beatles.

Can't I choose two?
Revolver and White Album are the two best.

Equal best.

Best two of three?
OMG!

It just keeps happening!

Guess this is a divine sign that we are not to pass judgement between Revolver and White Album and just accept that they are equal, yet different, in their brillance and near-perfection.

Revolver is the best Beatles album, but the Beatles themselves remain overated.

We will call it a draw then :D

I suppose everybody has their own opinion......though I would disagree as they did revolutionise popular music.

yah. Any band that sells more than 1 Billion (that's 1000000000) records hardly deserves to be called influential.

I never said they weren't influential. I said they were overrated. In my humble opinion, at least 60% of their output was absolutely dire.

Impossible to pick just one, they're all the best (it's a zen thing :) ), but I voted Abbey Road, a hair's breadth over Sgt. P.

Equal, but equal in second place.

Rubber Soul.

I'll give you 50%, as some of the early stuff(and even a song or two an album down the road) was unlistenable. Still, it is hard to think of any group that has been more influential. Before you even consider the music itself you have to understand that the Beatles were major figures in changing the way the music buisness worked. They did more than anyone else to break the three-minute-barrier for radio play, and they were one of the first major pop acts to write the majority of the music they recorded.

As for the music, well, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a band that whose influence extended further or who managed to consistantly record music that still holds up decades later. For every steaming pile of Love Me Do they recorded something as wonderful as While My Guitar Gently Weeps, for every experimental failure like Revolution #9 they recorded something as prescient as Helter Skelter. They transformed pop into art in a way that Andy Warhol could only dream.

Oh...and I'll throw my hat to the White Album.

I personally really like Sgt. Peppers. I figure its probably because that is the album that originally turned me on to the Beatles. Also, something about the flow of that album makes me feel... I don't know quite how to describe it...but its good.

My second favorite, and only second by an incredibly small amount, would have to be Abbey Road. THat album always makes me grin. One thing else about Abbey Road that delights me is that a couple of pweople I know were trying to decide what Beatles song fitted their friends best, and both of them decided, independent of one another, that the song that fit me most was "Maxwell's Silver Hammer."
