I feel like crying. Will you give me a cookie?

So my youngest son buys a house in Louisiana and my wife and I decide to retire there instead of Alabama. Our oldest son also lives in Louisiana about an hour and a half drive South of where my youngest lives.

Young un bought a nice manufactured home and had it put on two acres of land. There were 10 unsold lots left in the sub-division a few weeks ago. I was very interested in the lot, which is two lots down from my son. I called the land company Friday and they sold all ten lots to a manufactured home sales lot.

Today we found out someone put a contract on the lot we had hoped to get, and the dealer will no sell us a lot without our buying a home to put on it now. Unfortunately, we can’t buy a home for another 12 to 18 months.

Now, we are looking for land in the area but land for sale is scarce.

I feel like crying because the lot we wanted sold and we can’t even get a second, third, or fourth choice.

Do you feel sorry for me? Will everything be OK? Will you give me a cookie to make me feel better?

Eh?

2004 called, they want their housing boom back.

Seriously, just wait. I imagine the lot will come back on the market quicker than you expect.

Alternatively, contact the seller, and ask if you can purchase it anyway. If you have folding cashy money for the land they may well find a reason to put the othe buyer off and give it to you. You will lose money, of course, but then no-one is rational when it comes to real estate.

Couldn't be. The one I sent you was green, not brown. Oh, don't worry. It was a cream-de-mint, choclate almond cookie.

that's because you forgot to reinterpret it to read "You will win the lottery in bed". you always have to add the in bed subtext.

all i can say is that in most countries in the world, especially those that follow, or are derived from a british legal pattern/system, landlords have too much legal power, and tennants have virtually none. it sucks. other than that the only thing that'd be at all useful is practical advice, and i know SFA about the property market in the states...

could i have a cookie too? i'm feeling kinda on the edge of sanity and have been strangely crying on and off (or just welling up and stopping myself) all evening (but its been ok cos i've been in the back of the car... but its very unusual for me and i kinda feel like my brain will fall apart if i don't stop it). sorta can't really take any more of this, i think.
