My mom has been in Charleston for 4 days, so it's just been me, my evil sister Trinityness (who has paid for her crimes) and my dad. So we were cleaning house most of yesterday (my dad works crazy hours so me and Trin couldn't get much done except taking care of the pets and cleaning up after ourselves). However Mom comes home and the first thing she sees is a busted storm door (which was broken in all the storms Monday, we haven't had much time to fix that though it was already broken back in Isabel...). Then she starts complaining that the kitchen and dining room/office (the computer is in here, so is the virus-infected one that I can't use anymore) aren't clean enough. She said she didn't feel appreciated. WTF??!

We all missed her and cleaned up for her even though we didn't have much time for the storm door, and this is our thanks!?

Welcome to the world of ungrateful, passive-aggressive mothers.

It's called PMS.
Then my mom is a fucking medical anomaly because it doesn't ever fucking end.

Aye, she should get that checked. Hormone therapy works wonders.

Heh. Try living with someone who has a medical condition which actually *does* make it permanent. ;)

I think it is more annoying when everything is fine and then a few minutes later she starts snapping at little things. Kind of throws you but it does make life interesting.

It was amazing to me how well I got on with my whole family, once I moved out of the house. Not much help now, but something to look forward to ;)
Absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

WORD to that.

Well, I guess it "ended" when I moved out, so there's that.

List all the things you three did do and tell her how unappreciated and hurt you felt to have been bitched out before you even had a chance to find out how her trip was.

Whenever I start to get upset at my parents they usually have to be all nice and good so I can't get in a proper rage. You should feel lucky that you really have a bad parent that you can get really upset at.:p

Seriously, most parents seem to make up for stupid behavior later. It must be hard to be a good parent 24/7. Then again, if she dosn't realize that she might have made a bit of a hasty judgement, I sorta like Katganistan's suggestion.

Show her this post. Or put your feelings down in a letter and leave it lying around the house for her to find.

Kill yourself. That would show her.

Note: Killing yourself is not recommended.

What you could do is say that since she didn't appreciate what you tried to do for her, just say that you won't help clean the house anymore.

Its immature and probably wont make things better, but it'll get the point across real quick.:p

yeh, it does get much much better when you move out, so don't fret :). my mum used to do the same. she'd go away for a conference and come back and start shouting and then threaten to kill herself if anyone stood up to her. what's weird is it was always my dad that did stuff at home so there was nothing that hadn't been done. anyway, i don't live at home anymore and my relationship with my mum is sooo much better. we still get on each others nerves if we're around each other for too long but there's always an escape. she still threaten's to kill herself now and again but she has less opportunity for it.

I prefer the "If you want something done right, do it yourself" stance, personally.

I hope Pancake's mother is more understanding than mine, then. If I had said something like that to my mother she'd have killed me.
