Yet another game idea.

This is something more unique, I think. It's an MMO, more realistic. It'd use real-time movement, not click to move, and it'd play something like Mercenaries, except online. I imagine it'd be much more strongly PvP based than most MMOs, with some PvE.

The idea I had was for an MMO based in a fictional country in a situation similar to post-WWI Germany. You play as a member of a revolutionary group, trying to take control of the country, while fighting other ideologies and the government.

It's divided into two loose alliances of three ideologies:

Left-wing

Anarchists
Colour: Black
Unique class: Rioter

Communists
Colour: Red
Unique class: Philosopher

Enviromentalists
Colour: Green
Unique class: Saboteur

Right-wing

Monarchists
Colour: White
Unique class: Noble

Fascists (originally Nazis, but then the game couldn't be released in Europe  )
Colour: Brown
Unique class: Orator

Fundamentalists
Colour: Blue
Unique class: Priest

There are three classes: Insurgent, Idealist and Professional, plus one unique class per faction as listed above. Unlike games like World of Warcraft, each class wouldn't be static; you'd start with various basic skills, and then grow to become professional in one or two, or fairly proficient in several, your choice. The Insurgent is your fighter, and can be anything from a melee fighter to ranged fighter to sniper. The Idealist is a caster (the game has a small amount of magic, which isn't referred to as such, it's just buffs and power-ups). The Professional is the most versatile; he can become anything from a doctor to an engineer to a builder to a mechanic.

So, any good?

That sounds kind of neat.

I personally had this crazy idea for a Final Fantasy style RPG involving Roger Rabbit and a whole crapload of Looney Toons and Disney Toons costarring and whatnot. It'd be set in modern day: Roger Rabbit, now retired, is feeling kinda down about his life, and nothing his friend the Taxi Cab(whatever his name was) or his wife Jessica can do will cheer him up. So they call up six of his friends(characters chosen by the player) over to Roger's house to help try and put Roger back in a good mood.

When they arrive, crazy lights flash, and a vortex opens up and swallows them, taking all nine into another reality, where many Looney Toon and Disney Toon villains have co-conspired to take over the entire world, all lead by Judge Doom himself!(The guy Christopher Lloyd played in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?".) Finding themselves separated into three parties of three across the globe, with odd new powers given to them as a result of the process that brought them to the new dimension, with no way of getting back and with only the clothes on their backs and the few possessions they find around them, they have to set out to take down Judge Doom and free the world from his insanity.

(There were some crazy story ideas I was throwing around. For instance, a rebellion lead by the alternate Roger Rabbit, with various characters from all sorts of animation being part of his army. And a few LT and DT characters would have different personalities, since it's a different reality and all that. One particular character I had in mind for that bit would have been Yosemite Sam, who would be a major arms providor for the rebellion. Also, I was thinking that the odd process would be a result of experimentation on the part of Judge Doom to find a way to go into an alternate reality and take it over as well.)

I figure the player could choose his six characters from a load of different LT and DT peeps, like having Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Porky Pig, ect in your party. (I even came up with a couple abilities for them, like how Porky Pig's "Th-th-th-that's all folks!" saying could be turned into an ability to kill an enemy in battle instantly.)

There's a lot more to what I came up with, but it's just stuff I'm throwing around. I won't even bother attempting to write down any of it because I know if I start a project along these lines I'll never actually finish it because I never finish any project like this I start. (See such long-term discontinued projects like Digital Breakdown, Rose Among Thorns, ect for examples.) But if anyone else wants to do something like this, I'll be happy to give a hand.

As for your idea Potate: again, it's neat sounding. I'd play it.

That sounds cool. I'd like it if there really were a lot of ways to play the game (rather than just combat, which seems to apply to every other MMO), and classes like Orator, Philosopher and Priest all seem like ideal ways to do so. While an Anarchist Rioter does battle with some Fascist Freikorps members on one street, a Communist Philosopher is handing out leaflets to uncertain suburbians who thought it was all better under the king... until now. And in a factory, a Green Saboteur disrupts the hard work of a Fundamentalist engineer. It really would make for a multi-faceted game.

Speaking of the Freikorps, a Freikorps simulator might bring new flavour to the world of strategy. Yeah, it would probably be banned in Germany because, for one reason or another, some prominant FKs displayed swastikas, but that can be changed. In it, you start out as Ober-Leutnant (Enter New Profile Name Here), angry and rejected, convinced that one final push by the Sturmtruppen of which you were once a member could have swept away the Entente. From then on, it's your choice. Do you side with the Weimar government to foil the Reds, or treat the Reichswehr and the Spartacists with an equal amount of fury? Do you want a return to the good old days or a new, more radical system (again with the banning in Germany...) ? Do you raise men from your old company or gather a militia of radical civilians? Do you battle the Volksmarine for Hamburg and Bremen, march into Bavaria to halt rumblings of cessation, or don an Imperial Russian cockade on one side of your helmet and rush to aid the fight against communism? If the latter, do you side with the POW as brother nationalists who yearn for the old Europe, or try and throw them from Upper Silesia?

It's based fundamentally on the idea of painting the world as it was then and letting you finish the story, as opposed to setting up false constraints. It's also a kind of union not of the RTS and FPS gaming concepts, but of their philosophy: you are the commander of a company, batallion, or regiment if you have some luck, who look to you for every decision, but you're also one character, operating within a major power rather than as one.

That actually sounds quite interesting. There are a good number of different groups you can play & a good number of different scenarios you could set up. That's definitely something I would be interested in.

Yeah, I also imagine there would be pets, although not like WoW; dogs, and birds mostly. This is also an extension of the Professional, they can become animal experts.
