Smart is relative to the subject.

Yeah, but is that what "smart" means? I thought "smart" = "intelligent", not "knowledgeable in a specific area".

I must admit I do consider Fass intelligent, though I also laugh at some of the things he comes out with. That silly Swede.

dunno, can't remember what sort of things vetalia has said so i couldn't comment on his intelligence. the nazz and sinuhue always struck me as very smart. and, risking sounding like a sychophant, you yourself seem like someone who is not exaggerating their IQ test results. when i first started on NSG i was impressed by upward thrust also.

I see alot of relatively intelligent influences on this board, given that it isnt marred and warped by unthoughtful bias. On that note, of the most reasonable people I've met- and thus equate with the most intelligent is Katganistan.

oh yeh, kat's smart. and free soviets too.

so many of these people operate as teachers, makes me happy for the future of education.

well sort of. the vast majority of teahcers i know in RL are morons. but they're also old, so they'll retire soon.

Honestly, no one here is as smart as MeansToAnEnd. He's a friggin' genius. Don't deny it.

I'd have to say Vetalia, but also Soheran despite his (her?) diametrically differing viewpoint to mine.

Most people on NS make me feel stupid. Bottle does so in particular, though. Also Vetalia.

Aww, thanks guys...:)

Personally, I'd have to say that there are a ton of smart people on here and I couldn't pick any in particular; there's no real "smartest" person because we've got people who are extremely intelligent on particular subjects.

Right now, some of the best discussions I've had have been with Soheran, but that's only in regard to philosophy and discussions about epistemology. Others, like Cat-Tribe are great on things like tech or net neutrality, The Nazz is incredible on politics, and PsychoticDan and TacticalGrace are the biggest energy people on here.

I'm sure there are dozens more I could list, so don't feel bad if I don't mention you. :)

Oh, and the International Incidents crowd always makes me feel stupid too, with their mass repository of military knowledge, and the incredibly detailed weapon designs. It's somewhat frightening, having so many civilians who appear to know how to build a 5th gen fighter.

Correction: how to copy the stats off the internet and make the numbers bigger.

And, even if the II'ers are smart, 90% of them are terrible RPers.

Look at the Macabees ol' Arca IV. That scares me.
Meh, I'd say a reasonable minority are good RPers. I can hardly talk, though, since I'm not a particularly brilliant RPer. Do you go to NationStates these days?

Nah, I'm still in II, but I stay away from MT/PMT/PT war RPs. I stick to FT and character RPs.

Well, I would say Tactical Grace was one of the most intelligent posters until he left. Since then.. well I can't tell if Fass just has a quick wit, or is genuinely intelligent, or both. I suspect the lattermost. Otherwise, I would expect that the most intelligent poster would be one of the more understated ones, a lurker if you will.

again, it's relative. A mathmatician will be smart with math, but lousy in chemstry... a chemist can be brilliant in the lab, but a total n00b on the computer... etc...

I think of intelligence not so much as your prowess within a given field of thought, so much as your raw intellectualising power (which can then be applied to any field). I also hold the opinion that 'intelligence' is too esoteric of a quality to accurately measure, and that once to get past a certain point, it truly becomes semantical and futile to compare. So, for example, who is smarter; Vetalia or Tactical Grace? It is a difficult and pointless judgement to make. Both posters are very intelligent, so much so that comparison becomes difficult. So, as Wheredoyouthinkyougoing so aptly pointed out, there are too many intelligent posters to designate a clearly superior one. This combined with my assertation that if there was a hypothetical supremely intelligent poster, he would probably be a lurker, indicatates that whatever the case, we can never know the smartest poster, but still may take comfort in the fact that we know there are many. AnarchyeL. I really need to stop getting into arguments with him... I lose. Every time.

Yeah, but is that what "smart" means? I thought "smart" = "intelligent", not "knowledgeable in a specific area".

in that respect, i always thought Alien Born was particularly smart, but it could be that he was simply very good at debating, or that his debating style matched mine to make arguing with the dude difficult and fun. but he probably was 'smart'

other than him, there are of course tonnes of smart people on this forum... this is a forum for people interested (mostly) in debate and politics. i'm pretty sure that weeds out a lot of chavs and txt-speak moron noobs.

glitziness is of course wonderfully smart :) :fluffle: (iRL too! :p)
and i once got called "one of NS's genius'"
