The Great Big Thread of Hot-Button Issues Poll
WOOHOO!!! It's the great big thread of hot button issues. You will choose which of these views fits you.
I voted pro-gay marriage, pro-abortion, and anti-death penalty. I'm just cool like that.

I support the death penalty for whoever is anti-pancakes. :mad: Pancakes was capitalised; is it pancakes or the pancake?

i vote:
In favor of gay marriage (cuz why not?);
anti death penalty (i have enough problems with the state as it is without sanctioning state sponsored murder);
pro abortion (because i support the right to choose, i can't know all the circumstances of every case in order to make a coherent argument for banning it altogether);
anti abortion (i find it distasteful and i would have real trouble going through with it if it was up to me);
pro stem cell research (got to do something with all those otherwise wasted IVF embryos);
pro pancake (cuz she's probably cool).

LOL how many people are pro abortion but anti death penalty? It's just a retroactive abortion ;)
Pro gay marriage (is there any logical non religion influenced answer as to why not?)
Anti death penalty (state sanctioned murder)
Pro abortion (women should have the right to control what goes on in their body)
pro stem cell research (this can lead to huge medical breakthroughs that will benifit humankind)
pro pancakes (mmmm pancakes. Im refering to the food, of course)

Yo. That would be me.
However, to note, I have serious moral problems with abortion, however, I can disconnect morality with legality. I am not "Pro-Abortion" but "Pro-Choice", people. I despise the act, but I understand why it is in place.
My stance on the death penalty is not anything ethical at all. It has to do with the fact that conviction does not mean guilt. There have been innocent men put to death, and innocent men whom were on Death Row who were set free, due to new evidence. It is my stance that it is better for a guilty man walk free, than an innocent man be sentenced.
Pro-Gay Marriage
Pro-Death penalty
Pro-Abortion
Pro-Stem Cell research
Pro-Pancakes
I guess I'm just a "pro" kinda guy. :p

Yeah, I agree with this, for the most part. However, I do think that in extremely rare cases, it can be warranted. For example, I'd go for a death penalty for Saddam. I mean, it's pretty clear he did what he's accused of. (I don't really support the war because there were--and are-- bigger problems out there, but if we're gonna do it, then we should try him for what he's done.) And what he's accused of warrants death. But I think the death penalty is way overused, and however many innocent people have died is that number too many.
The only time I'd even CONSIDER the death penalty would be for someone who has no respect for life at all. Someone like Hitler, or Stalin. Someone that dispicable. Saddam, though he pushes the bar, does not snap the wire, and thus would get life in prison if I were the judge.
Anyway...
I'm pro gay marriage. Anyone who has any sense is. There's no reason to not allow gay couples to marry. I don't care what two people who love each other do. So long as they are not directly harming me or anyone else through their love--and I can't POSSIBLY see how they could EVER do that--they can, should, and will get married.
I'm pro-abortion, with a few restrictions. For instance, I think that we need to set a certain guideline for when the fetus becomes more than a parasite; that is, when it can live on its own. At and past that point, abortion should be illegal unless the health risk to the mother is so great that it has to be done. Before then, however, it should not be a problem. Until it can live on its own, it's not really human: it's just an egg. But once it is human, it is sa--well, once again, that's not a word I should use, me being an athiest. It's...ah, hell, you get the idea.
Stem-cell research and other similiar research have my thumbs up. Especially since most embryonic stem cell research uses embryoes that would have otherwise been disposed of from egg banks anyway, since they would no longer be useable, per se.
As for pancakes...I like 'em. I'm certain there's one pancake in particular that would taste good...once said pancake is legal, of course. ;)
