Whats that one thing you drink and/or eat to give you that little pick-me-up or boost of energy late in the afternoon?

A large diet cola. Sometimes coffee. I need a little caffeine about an hour after I eat lunch.

C-c-c-c-c-cocaine's a good pick-me-up, I've heard. Forgot about that actually - some good music is a great pick-me-up as well.

I'm not entirely sure why that deserved the rolling eyes. Drugs are bad, except for medicinal purposes, in much the same way that having your leg amputated is. It's all to do with appropriate circumstances.

Well hey. If we take two people - one smokes a joint a day and the other eats a McDonalds burger a day; who is more likely to suffer health problems?

I mean, if we're going to ban "bad" things, it would make logical sense to ban all of them, or none at all.

Expressos

I prefer Espresso (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espresso#Naming_variations)... Which is hardly "fancy." There's even less (water) to it than regular coffee (<--- watered down swill :p).

Oh, and raw habanero. The pain is excruciating, but the lightheaded (yet not nauseated, or anything like that) floating feeling from the resultant endorphins is actually quite interesting. Dunno if that qualifies as a "pick me up;" something to do when I'm bored :D

Hmmm, it's hard to say. I like all of them, but most fans are divided as to which is their best, and I guess it depends strongly on personal taste. My favourite is Sky Valley, but it's a bit of a trip, since it has three tracks, each between 15 and 20 minutes, and some people don't like to sit through tracks that long. (they divide these tracks up as different songs live and on singles, though). ...And the Circus Leaves Town, being their last album, is their most QOTSA-like, and Blues for the Red Sun is pretty raw by comparison.

So take your pick out of those three. :p Their first two albums aren't really worth bothering with straight away since the production is quite poor and the music unrefined...plus, they're almost impossible to find anyway. And their "best of" album is more of a rarities collection, with only a couple of songs that feature on the albums above.

I'm thinking ...And the Circus Leaves Town then. Not neccessarily their best, but possibly their most accessible to someone who doesn't have a metal background. I'll have a listen to that one & see what I reckon.

Unless "investigate", in this sense, is synonymous with "set on fire and throw out a high window", you'd be much better not to.

I use chocolate for that last little gasp of energy required to finish a term paper three hours before the morning it is due. And gum, you can't sleep while you chew.
