Does anybody know what exactly this (http://modernwarstudies.net/viewtopic.php?t=328) book is a part of? Is it a manual? I own it, unfortunately I don't know Russian, only my father and I'm not very willing to learn it.

Thanks,

Jon

It's porn.

That artillery piece is rather phallic, come to think of it.

Nah, it has to do with Soviet artillery during the war and directly after, and it has a small section on Soviet nuclear ordnance as well.

1979

If anybody knows Russian I will scan in the 'publisher's' name (I really don't know if it's the publisher; I'm assuming so).

After some searching, apparently "Artillery is the god of war" is a quote attributed to Stalin. So i'd figure that's all it is. Possibly just a civilian book.

Here is the inside cover if anybody can make something out of it.

Not only Stalin, but thereafter it was 'standard' to call artillery the God of War. Artillery was a considerable part of Soviet Deep Operation theory, and this was taken to the max by the North Koreans (http://modernwarstudies.net/viewtopic.php?t=314) (especially mechanized artillery).

I know that much, I just wasn't aware of the literal "God of War" reference.

You might go to www.stalingrad.net

There is a guy that specializes in German and Soviet stuff about Stalingrad.

Overall he is very good about publications in general.....

My wife speaks fluent russian and the only clues she can offer is: (to paraphrase) "the information in this book is provided by the museum of soviet military history"

Give my thanks to your wife, and tell her that I believe she answered my question! :D

Again, thank you!
