Je l'aimais quand Nina Simone l'a chanté, mais il chante d'une façon tellement sincère. Je l'aime bien.

As for my favorite song, it's this at the moment, but it changes a lot. The reason I like it so much is that I was in Iraq from Apr 2003 until Mar 2004, and it's very much how I felt about what was happening to Iraq. Of course, I'm quite noncommittal with my choice of "favorite song" so it'll change in a week or so.

Not sure if they count as a songs per se, but I love Bartók's Third and Sixth String Quartets. I go through favourite songs like other people go through mindless romantic flings. My current favourite is "We Oh We," a gorgeous love song by some weird Canadian christian indie band (yeah, not my usual genre). Old stand-bys I'll always love are: Layla (acoustic); For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her; How Soon is Now?; and Sledgehammer (among many, many others).

To sing, of course, it would be I Could Have Danced All Night. I don't care if I didn't get the role; I still love the song.

Here's the English:

As the golden evening sun,
Sent its last light,
A regiment of Hitler pulled,
Into a quiet, little town.

Their songs sounded sad,
By the quiet, little city,
Because they carried to the grave,
One of Hitler's comrades.

And the mother in the distance,
They sent their last regards,
That her son was filled with pride,
As he was shot through the heart.

Their flags blew stubbornly,
As they lowered him into the grave,
And they swore grim revenge,
For one of Hitler's comrades.

Your death is not in vain,
They swore it to him on his grave,
Three times then the guns cracked,
For Adolf Hitler's faithful.

As the golden morning sun,
Sent its first light,
A regiment of Hitler's pulled,
Back into the fight.

Funny, isn't it? When you first hear Geddy Lee, it just sounds like aimless screeching. But, once you listen to his voice, there's so much subtlety and richness to it.

It's sort of sad on the R30 stuff, though, because his voice really gets strained after the first few shows. Of course, that happens to all vocalists after they hit 50.

I don't generally listen to songs, myself. I prefer mostly nonvocal music. My favorite piece of music including vocal parts is probably Beethoven's 9th symphony, but my favorite piece of music over all is probably his 3rd.

Alone, Jealous & Stoned - Secret Machines. Especially good to hear live when you are stoned.

Man when I read this I just had to go dig up my Moving Pictures cd!
When I could not find it I downloaded it!
Thank You Oink (http://oink.me.uk/index.php) for being there for me!
It will take less time downloading (the MFSL Gold Ultra Disc version ripped to FLAC format) the cd than it would for me to dig thru my stuff ( I am moving soon and everything is packed).
I LOVE bittorrent (and the Internet and all of my friend therein :D )

Heh, the CD sounds particularly good for a CD, but it still has nothing on the original vinyl (which I happen to have in flawless condition). Alex did a great job with the remasters, but even so, CD just doesn't have the frequency response to really cut it.

Moving Pictures sounds alive on the original vinyl pressing. It's astonishing when you first listen to the LP. It really is.

Probably "Konstantine" by Something Corporate, or "Punk Rock Song" by Bad Religion.

How completely unorginal. In what way? Nobody else has listed it, or even any other Nirvana song, as their favorite.
