If you have read any less important stories than these, I'd like to know.

First Runner Up
-- "Man Describes What He Saw in Washington County Woods"--headline (http://news.yahoo.com/s/wisn/20061113/lo_wisn/10308970), WISN-TV Web site (Milwaukee), Nov. 13

Second Runner Up

I like the irony of this sinking to page three without a reply. :)

Damn, I can't top the wind knocking over the sign, but here's something monumentally unimportant from my local newspaper.

Fire Hall Rumor Dismissed (http://www.themorningsun.com/stories/111606/loc_hall001.shtml)

My local paper runs the names of everyone who got ticketed by the cops. I've been in there several times.

I found something even less important than the fire hall rumor, this is from my campus newspaper. For clarity, party stores are what we call liquor stores in Michigan.

Restaurants, party stores see rush (http://www.cm-life.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/11/15/455a9c4304145) Headline: Managers say beer, pizza sales spiked during weekend.

To which I say, "No shit!"

Scientology weddings... (http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/va/20061115/116360788000.html)[the Anti Cruise again]
In the old-fashioned language that marks the Traditional version, the groom is reminded that "girls" need "clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat" -- and is asked to provide them all.
WTF?

wow... what a waste of ink. They also publish every call the fire department gets. And everyone ever arrested. Small towns have nothing better to do than be nosy.

We have that in our local paper too. Even better, this paper serves several small towns and publishes all of the police/fire/ambulance activity for all of them. It's still just a small blurb in the corner.

Do you get arrested often?

No, but every time anyone gets arrested is unbeleivable. It seems so obscene.

Even minors??

Unfortunately, this meant my landlord commented on me being one of the arrests. For driving with a suspended license. Even got spend a few hours in our little three cell jail.

I think so. People rarely get arrested here, and I'm really not sure if they put the names in. I'd have to check. I've never even been so much as pulled over.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure why someone hasn't pointed this out as even less important than spam.
