So I just quit the program Guitar Pro and went on to windows media player. Now all my songs are playing in the same phonetic, slow, echoy, weird way that they are played on Guitar Pro apart from with vocals.

Thats very odd. Which version of GP? I use 4 and 5 frequently, without any problems.
Check the sound mix, speakers and speaker jacks, then restart your PC.

Thanks, Its guitar pro 5. I'm gunna have a go at sorting it out in a minute as soon as I've listened to more songs.

I've never had that problem with GP, but, then, I rarely use WMP.

I had the same problem. You know what happened?

Guitar Pro has some faulty coding that disables your sound chip/board's hardware acceleration. Go into your Windows audio settings, click the "Advanced" tab, and put your hardware acceleration back on full.
