Something good to share.

So I really like this song called My Jesus (http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/My-Jesus-lyrics-Todd-Agnew/8E759CCF72670A224825716D00455768). Its not the typical "praise Jesus" song. This song talks about how our image of Jesus is like totally opposite of what he was. There are a few good parts I want to share for the heck of it.

Actually come to think of it. I'm going to post the whole song. Its that good, IMO.

Which Jesus do you follow?
Which Jesus do you serve?
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Then why do you look so much like the world?
This is such a true statement, however, when I sing the song I change the you to "I", because I know that I am not the best representative of Christ. You all probably see me act like a douche sometimes, and that's just not cool. Anyways, I think us Christians need to be more imitating of Christ, far too often we act like jerks or we are stuck up, or simply just not a good ambassador of Christ. A strong way to start the song

{chorus}
Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant
So which one do you want to be?

Exactly right. Many times modern Christians associate wealth, fame, etc going along with blessings from God. We also make it a point to almost idolize big time pastors, or evangelical leaders, but if we look at our true hero, he was not famous, nor rich.

Blessed are the poor in spirit
Or do we pray to be blessed with the wealth of this land
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness
Or do we ache for another taste of this world of shifting sand

-chorus-
This song really points a finger at American Christians. When it comes to the poor and such, we kind of just avoid them. They seem to be lesser in a way. We'd rather be at home, with our middle class friends, watching baseball or out on the lake or something. But, did Jesus ever rent a Pontoon boat out on a Sunday just to shoot the breeze with the pharisees? I think not.

Who is this that you follow
This picture of the American dream
If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side or fall down and worship at His holy feet

Pretty blue eyes and curly brown hair and a clear complexion
Is how you see Him as He dies for Your sins
But the Word says He was battered and scarred
Or did you miss that part
Sometimes I doubt we'd recognize Him

He is right again. I think if Jesus was physically alive on the earth walking around, many Christians would shun him. They'd look down their noses at him because of his ordinary appearance, and plain lifestyle. We expect him to be this knight in shinning armor, like what is romanticized on the big screen or in paintings, but alas he was "battered and scarred". I do doubt that many people would recognize him.

I'm not going to comment on the rest of the song, but i put it there for you. I really love this song. It speaks to me at how we paint this entirely different picture of Christ, when in reality he was plain, battered and bruised. Makes one think a little bit.

-chorus-

Cause my Jesus would never be accepted in my church
The blood and dirt on His feet might stain the carpet
But He reaches for the hurting and despised the proud
I think He'd prefer Beale St. to the stained glass crowd
And I know that He can hear me if I cry out loud

Not a poster child for American prosperity, but like my Jesus
You see I'm tired of living for success and popularity
I want to be like my Jesus but I'm not sure what that means to be like You Jesus
Cause You said to live like You, love like You but then You died for me
Can I be like You Jesus?
I want to be like my Jesus

No, it's not us, it's them. But seriously, the problem is we get bored and we have too much stuff.

If I recall, Christ is pretty darn famous on this planet (infamous in certain parts as well).

"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under feet, and turn again and rend you." ~Jesus

Not true. We see Jesus in the poor, in our minds, in our churches, on TV, on T-shirts, on crucifixes, on the Internet, on SPAM, on corn, on Wonder Bread...

Yeah, it's funny ain't it?
