Just wondering...

...what do you think was the worst decade?

I thought that the 90s were pretty rubish. My family all moved out of the Luxembourg (apart from me), loads of great people such as Mother Teresa & Princess Diana - and my grandma - died. Also, all that 'grunge' stuff. Yeugh!

The 1960s -- society in the US took a great leap backward at that point, despite landing on the moon. At least JFK didn't serve too long as president or it would have been worse.

the 80s for fashion

I loved some of that - not the curly hair, just the big puffy sleeves, clutch bags - harder for people to pickpocket - and the hats (as in the ones worn for formal occasions). I didn't like the shock wigs though.

worst one i've lived through is probably this one, at least in terms of international incidents.

90s for fashion i think.

and 90s for music too, late 90s at least.

i supose one should sugest the 40's for obvious reasons..

I don't know how old you are, but, in terms of international incidents, I'd say the 80s. Cold War.

i reckon the 40s must've sucked, what with the war and then post-war problems

*EDIT* damn, beaten to it

22, the cold war was dying out in the latter half of the 80s as far as i'm aware. what i meant when i said "the decades i've lived through" i meant the ones i was sufficiently aware of stuff in.

Yes and no.
If you think, though thousands of people lost their lives (sorry to sound callous, I do attend remeberance ceremonies every year with my sister) , we learnt our lesson here in Luxembourg - no more nazism/fascism. It also started the decline of the aristocracy - so, a couple of decades later, i didn't have to be one. I got to be an ordinary person and so did load sof my friends - I'm sorry, once again, it makes me sound like a self centred idiot. It also gave su the idea that war is a bad thing - its not sweet to die in defence of your country, its awful. Though that doesn't outway the loss of million of people and the holocaust and all that. A terrible waste

I'm gonna have to say that the worst decade was the 30s (maybe 40s), because of the Depression and Hitler.

I'd say this century is arguably better than the ones of the Dark Ages, the Crusades, the Hundred Years War, colonialism... etc.

While I suppose 52 million could be classified as "thousands", it's rather misleading to say so.

My personal worst? The 70's. I wasted that decade - I married the wrong man and stayed with him for six years because of the kids. I went back to school and to a degree in the wrong subject and didn't get good enough grades to get into graduate school. I went through a series of dead end jobs. It was a bad time.

The worst for fashion - the 80's.

The worst for entertainment - the 80's.

The worst for politics - right now.

Sorry, I meant the Luxembourgers. Of course others did, but, it being aroudn the 11th, I was rather concentrated on Luxembourg - we are really a xenophobic bunch, and that was an error I'll gladly rectify.

I'd have to say the 30's; you know, that Great Depression thing, the rise of conservatism and shunning the 20's as 'the era of sin', rise of fascist and totalitarian powers in Europe... (although the 40's had the war and all that...)
