Bomber über Bagdad

america und eure bomben!
america bringt uns um! (3x)

ganz amerika will krieg, denn unser land will doch das öl!

Denkst Du vielleicht grad' an mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied fuer Dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und dass sowas von sowas kommt

99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man fuer UFOs aus dem All
Darum schickte ein General
Eine Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben, wenn es so war
Dabei war da am Horizont
Nur 99 Luftballons

99 Duesenjaeger
Jeder war ein grosser Krieger
Hielten sich fuer Captain Kirk
Das gab ein grosses Feuerwerk
Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fuehlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf 99 Luftballons

99 Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich fuer schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Mann, wer haette das gedacht
Dass es einmal soweit kommt
Wegen 99 Luftballons

99 Jahre Krieg
Liessen keinen Platz fuer Sieger
Kriegsminister gibt es nicht mehr
Und auch keine Duesenflieger
Heute zieh ich meine Runden
Seh die Welt in Truemmern liegen
Hab' nen Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an Dich und lass' ihn fliegen

Here's a better one

J'ai vécu heureuse
Dans mes palais
D'or noir et de pierres précieuses
Le Tigre glissait
Sur les pavés de cristal
Mille califes se bousculaient
Sur mes carnets de bal

On m'appelait
La Cité pleine de grâce
Dieu
Comme le temps passe

On m'appelait
Capitale de lumière
Dieu
Que tout se perd

Je m'appelle Bagdad
Et je suis tombée
Sous le feu des blindés
Sous le feu des blindés
Je m'appelle Bagdad
Princesse défigurée
Et Shéhérazade
M'a oubliée

Je vis sur mes terres
Comme une pauvre mendiante
Sous les bulldozers
Les esprits me hantent
Je pleure ma beauté en ruine
Sous les pierres encore fumantes
C'est mon âme qu'on assassine

On m'appelait
Capitale de lumière
Dieu
Que tout se perd

Je m'appelle Bagdad
Et je suis tombée
Sous le feu des blindés
Sous le feu des blindés
Je m'appelle Bagdad
Princesse défigurée
Et Shéhérazade
M'a oubliée
Mes contes des mille et une nuits
N'intéressent plus personne
Ils ont tout détruit

Je m'appelle Bagdad
Et je suis tombée
Sous le feu des blindés

That's what the neo-conservative death cult of socialistic Democrats wants you to think

side note on anti-war songs: they are usually some leftist punk rock crap that ends up being anti-American, rather than anti-war. shit, you're against the iraq war--that makes a real good political commentary! the political depth in these songs is usually shallow, "Bush is a retard, Iraq = Holocaust, corporations raped my daughter" crap.

They came about four or five years into the Vietnam war - we've got a couple of years until the good stuff starts coming in yet...

Hehe. :D

Thge original, for those who were a bit clueless, is "Bomben über Engelland" which was a song about the German bombers dropping their cargo all over England. But the lyrics have been rewritten, and they're pretty decent too.

what happened to good social commentary songs?

It was back in ******-******
I was a member of a good platoon.
We were on maneuvers in-a Loozianna,
One night by the light of the moon.
The captain told us to ford a river,
That's how it all begun.
We were -- knee deep in the Big Muddy,
But the big fool said to push on.

The Sergeant said, "Sir, are you sure,
This is the best way back to the base?"
"Sergeant, go on! I forded this river
'Bout a mile above this place.
It'll be a little soggy but just keep slogging.
We'll soon be on dry ground."
We were -- waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool said to push on.

The Sergeant said, "Sir, with all this equipment
No man will be able to swim."
"Sergeant, don't be a Nervous Nellie,"
The Captain said to him.
"All we need is a little determination;
Men, follow me, I'll lead on."
We were -- neck deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool said to push on.

All at once, the moon clouded over,
We heard a gurgling cry.
A few seconds later, the captain's helmet
Was all that floated by.
The Sergeant said, "Turn around men!
I'm in charge from now on."
And we just made it out of the Big Muddy
With the captain dead and gone.

We stripped and dived and found his body
Stuck in the old quicksand.
I guess he didn't know that the water was deeper
Than the place he'd once before been.
Another stream had joined the Big Muddy
'Bout a half mile from where we'd gone.
We were lucky to escape from the Big Muddy
When the big fool said to push on.

Well, I'm not going to point any moral;
I'll leave that for yourself
Maybe you're still walking, you're still talking
You'd like to keep your health.
But every time I read the papers
That old feeling comes on;
We're -- waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.

Waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep in the Big Muddy
And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep! Neck deep! Soon even a
Tall man'll be over his head, we're
Waist deep in the Big Muddy!
And the big fool says to push on!

An anti-war song... :)A neo-nazi song.

To which one should respond:

"Du bist wirklich saudumm,
Darum geht's dir gut,
Hass ist deine Attitüde,
Ständig kocht dein Blut.
Alles muss man dir erklären,
Weil du wirklich gar nichts weißt,
Höchstwahrscheinlich nicht einmal
Was 'Attitüde' heißt!

O-o-oh! Arschloch!"

I was looking on youtube and there I found this song. Although it was uploaded there by a neo-nazi asshole and the video is also full of right winged extremism. A bunch of hypocrite NPD-supporters (a far right-winged party in Germany, which has some seats in some states) against the war in Iraq.

But without looking at the video attached to it I think it has a good lyrics. Although I am not fond of the type of music. And the final message "Kriegstreiber stoppen - Kein deutsches Blut und Geld für fremde Interessen" isn't necessarily a bad message.

Here is the video:
