Now, I haven't seen the movie, but I intend to. ;)
Part of me just wants to hit these guys upside the head, the other part says that if they really were intoxicated when they signed the release, then they might have a case.
However, my question is when aren't frat boys drunk?
*sigh*

The young men "engaged in behavior that they otherwise would not have engaged in," the lawsuit says.
Except during those times they are regularly drunk.

So they only insult women and ethnic minorities if no-one they know finds out? Much better

Those young lads made complete asses of themselves and deserve every bit of humiliation.
I hope Borat wins. That scene was hilarious. They were so drunk, and they watched porn.

"The film "made plaintiffs the object of ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community," the lawsuit said."
i.e. they probably can't get laid now...

The film made lots of people the object of ridicule. That was kinda the point.
Besides plenty of other people looked a lot worse in my opinion.

They're lucky all he did was get a few racist and sexist comments on camera. Drunken frat boys will help you rob a bank and steal a car for the getaway if you promise to pay the tab.

I have been the object of ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community. It did me no end of good. :)
They make themselves look like jerks and now they want to blame someone else, eh? I see their parents did not teach them about personal responsibility.

If they really were lied too, they have a right to compensation. What shocks me the most about this story though, is that Fox was one of the main distributers.

How the hell are they going to prove they were lied to? They probably don't even remember making the movie. :p

Not if the contract doesn't lie. If you're dumb enough to sign something without reading it through, you should already know that bad things happen to you and that it is your lot in life.

Generally speaking, as someone whose job it is often to get people to sign releases, we get them signed after the shooting-so from that rather shoddy example they where more than likely drunk of their asses when they signed it.
HOWEVER-they seemed more than happy to be who they where in another country, just not theirs? They said what they said, they portrayed themselves as themselves, drunk or not-they knew the camera was there and on. The releases that they sign are pretty clear with what can be done with their image (pretty much anything-and honestly, even sober people don't read those bastards which could be anywhere from half a page to two pages). I doubt that they'll win this, I think it's a bid to publicly try to counter an image that now they realize is ass.

Au contraire! The film didn't make them "the object of ridicule, humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress, loss of reputation, goodwill and standing in the community," they did that to themselves!
The fact that they did it to themselves while on camera has no bearing aside from serving to illustrate how fucking pathetic they really are. Fortunately, there is no longer any doubt as to that quality.

drunkeness is not the be all and end all of fratboys. otherwise that would make me a fratboy. those kids were retarded pure and simple. anyone reaching adulthood with their mentality has something missing in their skull. borat is brilliant :D
edit: i don't know why there is an exlamation mark in the title of my post. i didn't put it there.

I can sympathize with the drunk frat boys, I've said things I don't believe when drunk, but, I also think they're the stupid fucks who let a camera near them whilst drunk. A video camera none the less.
