Having grown up and become politically conscious under the bush administration - I am 21 now - the events of the last few days have come as a sort of 'Allied liberation.'
I think that the way the Europeans felt when the Germans were driven out, and, as Churchill put it, "the life of the world may move forward into broad, sun lit uplands," is apparent to me now.
I believed that the republicans would win again, either by fraud or the stupid degeneracy of the American people, whom I very much underestimated.
The 2004 election was profoundly demoralizing, it made it appear as though the fault lay not with bush &co, but with America itself.
Being older now than I was then, and seeing that our democracy is not dead, I am blissful. These last few days have been some of my most joyful. The enemy is overthrown, we are liberated.
The life of the world can now move forward into broad, sun lit uplands, the war is over, the occupation ended, good has triumphed over evil, the future is bright.
On a side note, I feel a bit sorry for bush now, the boy-king has been humbled, his fantasy world of arrogance and nonsense has been shattered, and he is a pathetic figure because he has been neutered.
Seeing him kowtow to Nancy Pelosi is like seeing a child disciplined by his mother. It is the right thing, but at the same time, one has to think, "poor kid."
