Keruvalia I owe you some cookies, what kind do you like?

Yes, I did not forget our bet. I said the Democrats would not take the Congress and you said they would. So, you win and I want to know what kind of cookies you want so I can send you some.
I also propose a NS cookie party. We get together for milk and cookie and discuss how the change in Congress can help the US to become a better country. Will we be able to move forward in the next two years or will it be a continuation of political bickering? Have the Republicans learned their lesson from their overwhelming defeat, which they brought on themselves? Will a third party rise from the ashes of the Republican party and move on to victory in 08?
All in favor of a cookie party to discuss the above please vote. I pledge 144 cookies and 2 gallons of milk to the party.

I've been thinking. Perhaps it would be better to wait for the next President before pushing the environmental envelope to clean up the mess left behind by the last one. Whatever environmental laws would be hammered out under George W. Bush will be watered down, so it's best to wait two years for whoever is next, as they will most likely be a Democrat or moderate Republican, and will be a lot easier to work with.
I pledge 2 dozen taiyaki (split between anko, chocolate, creme, and cheese) and some hot chocolate to wash it down with.
As to where we are going, I don't know. I don't think the Democrats are going to go bananas; the eyes are now on the 2008 prize, they have a lot of blue dogs (the new Western Democrats), and they don't have anywhere near enough to override a presidential veto. So I think they will actually reach out.
President Bush, I am told, actually did do well with a Democratic controlled legislature when governor of Texas and did a lot of bi-partisan reaching, so if he can get that going again, I think we'll see an awful lot done. Especially as he's probably thinking legacy and Iraq isn't looking like a good one right now.
So, it depends upon if either side gets stubborn or if Rove convinces President Bush to keep trying to pump up the Republican base.

See, no one here buys food at IKEA, since, and this may come as a shock, Swedish foodstuffs are readily available in regular Swedish grocery stores.

IKEAs outside of Sweden regularly carry Swedish food, and usually have restaurants which serve it. It's all to do with their "spreading Swedishness" shtick, and it also allows Swedes abroad not to starve to death without appropriate amounts of lingonberry jam to smother the local dishes with.

It tastes weird and the kernels are hell. Compared to them, the kernels in raspberry jam are like microscopic dustmites compared to boulders.
And the taboo would be white flour? Carbs? No wonder you're always so grumpy. :p :fluffle:
