Shicksalstag is a German Holiday celebrating several events that changed Germany forever. All of these events happened on this day November the ninth, they include:
1848: Execution of Robert Blum, Liberal politician who was arrested in the Vienna revolts.
1918: Monarchy ends in germany with the de-throning of Kaiser Wilhelm II, Philipp Scheidemann proclaims the German republic
1923: The Beer Hall Putsch lead by Adolf Hitler marks the beginning of Nazi influence in Germany
1938: Kristallnacht Synagogues, Jewish businesses, and Jewish homes are destroyed by the Nazis and their supporters, the beginning of Jewish oppression in Germany.
1989: Fall of the Berlin Wall
2006: Ohel Jakob Synagogue is opened in Munich.

I always found it interesting that all these things all happened to have occured on the same day.
But yeah, it's not a holiday and I tend to forget about it until NSG reminds me.

And America has its own date format as a desperate attempt to keep the Candians too confused to attempt a repeat of the War of 1812. The last thing we need is someone burning down the White House again now that we've just finished repainting it.

But you haven't finished repainting it. It wasn't white before we burned it down. You only whitewashed it to cover the smoke damage.
