I'm sorry, but the democrats can only have one branch of government, and, while admittedly, I'd rather they have the Presidency, I would greatly disapprove of a unified Democrat government.

The same thing we saw with the R's for the past 6 years.
Personally, I too fear the democrats having total control of the US government. I'd rather they have just enough power to neutralize the morons that run the US.

Are the Democrats proposing foreign wars, the denial of habeus corpus, executive autocracy, bigoted Constitutional amendments, and abridgement of the right to a fair trial?

QFT.
And I'll say it again: we never lost a planet under a Democratic President or with Democrats in charge of Congress.

Aye, most of the D's and the R's on the national level are morons, but they're morons who hate each other, thus they cannot combine their stupid powers into one, and gurgle all of our money away instantaneously, like the R's have been doing for the past six years. If power is split between R and D, the stupid powers are distributed, and are incapable of being too fucking stupid.

Give 'em all the power and they will be a decade (less if they face a 9/11 equivalent attack).
If you'll recall, in 1994 the R's didn't propose a single one of those things, yet now we've got 'em. Unified government leads to stagnation, corruption, abuse of power and all the rest.
More than that, when congress is controlled by the opposition, there are more checks on the executive, they're more willing to investigate, and the oversight is stronger.

Personally, I'd want Bill Clinton back as prez, and the R's in control of Congress, with the cleanliness and fervor that they had in 1994.

Nonsense. The Republican Party was militaristic, "pro-national security", and allied to the Christian Right long before Bush and 9/11.

So are the D's, they're like that in a different way, but they are. Hell, did you see any of Harold Ford's television ads down in Tennessee? He started loads of goddam one of them off with "I love Jesus" or some shit like that.
And Kerry's been advocating adding three fucking combat divisions to the Army. Three divisions, Oh my science*, are we getting ready to fight a Great Power War or something? That's fucking HUGE.
No, national security, militarism and religiosity are all big issues that both parties support, in different way, because they are all popular with your beloved "working class". Fucking blue collar dolts, falling for the rhetoric of populism and nationalism.
Not to mention that the political will to do those things did not exist prior to 9/11, and it would have been impossible for Bush to implement them.
*Yes, the south park reference again, I'm still laughing about it.

Probably because his opponent was even worse, and he wanted to attract voters in line with that point of view.

Does he want to use them?

How many of the Democrats support equal rights for gay couples?
How many of the Republicans do?

As opposed to the "educated" intellectuals who fall for the same shows, but are able to concoct arguments to defend themselves?

Now you're just covering your guys ass. You know what the truth is, that he's just the same as the goddam R's on this matter.
Does he want to use them?
During the election he seemed willing to deploy them to Iraq.

Hell if I know, I don't give a damn about social politics.

At least they're able to admit when they've made the mistake, and then try to cover their asses.

He is not "my guy." I happen to dislike most of the Democrats, but that's beside the point.
Looking at the actual policies the Democrats have supported in, say, the last three decades versus those supported by the Republicans, it is quite clear who are the more religiously fundamentalist.
During the election he seemed willing to deploy them to Iraq.
He made a crucial error in Oct. 2002, and he deserves to be blamed for it, but the fact remains that not only did far more Democrats oppose the war than Republicans, but they were also far more harshly critical, both supporters and opposers.
Hell if I know, I don't give a damn about social politics.
Do you give a damn about the extent to which people are willing to use their religious beliefs as an excuse to deny others equal rights?
Or are you one of those people who is only concerned for his own freedom?
At least they're able to admit when they've made the mistake
What are you talking about?
