So this morning i was walking out the door to go to school when my phone rang. It way my friend and they said that school was cancelled. It turns out that it was cancelled because there was a threat made against the school. Now i don't live in a bad area so this isn't all that common but should we really affect the lives of 2000 students b/c 1 idiot made a hollow threat? I doubt that anyone would make a threat before bringing a gun to school b/c that would make them more likely to get caught. Thoughts?

When they ignore the threat and someone gets hurt, they are so sued.
You got the day off school. Don't worry about it and go play with your trucks in the sandpit.

Somebody probably procrastinated too long on a term paper or something and called it in. I once phoned in a bomb threat from a pay phone in my high school because I didn't do my homework for the next period class.

Might as well err on the side of caution. It might have been a bomb threat. My school was evacuated 4 times in my last year because of that and although everyone was sure it was a fake I was still happy enough with the way it was handled

Yes if the statute of limitations has expired. If not I'm just kidding.

Back when I was in High School, we would get them about every semester. Nah we wouldn't go home, we would just stand out of the yard, about 50 feet from the school. Yea that's a good plan, make it easier for a sniper to snipe us off!

There were three bomb threats in one week because someone didn't want to go to school. Too bad he is in jail for terrorist threats.

bomb threats are taken seriously. and usually that is the only type of threat that will close down a school.
Businesses are also evacuated.
I would rather a school be shut down while the threat is either confirmed or not, than have one school blow up while filled with students.
My old school never had any bomb threats, but other schools in the area did. They were not too common though, since get to go to jail as a terrorist.
