On topic: No, I don't think so. Civil War requires a level of organisation I frankly don't think the Pashtun areas of Pakistan are capable of.

Now, REVOLTS are another thing altogether. However, this could be a good thing for Pakistan. Musharref would deal with revolts with thoroughness and ruthlessness - and this could shift the power base in Pakistan from the ignorant, incompetent rural areas to the more cosmopolitan city dwellers, where it belongs.

The Pashtuns are revolting? Why does that sound oddly familiar?

I suspect the only difference between this revolt and past ones in the area is the news coverage.

They tend to "cleanse the palate", as it were, for future use of the civil war territory.

I'd LOVE to see a civil war in Saudi Arabia, Iran, The BeneLux, Pakistan, and some parts of Disneyland (though NOT DisneyWorld).
