Good choice, bad? Have a better idea? I'm pretty in love with the song so it will be played at some point during the wedding.
I meant that "fiance" to be "fiancee".
Wedding, eh?

I like it. I think an important question is, does your fiancee like it? ;)
When during the wedding will you want it played?
My girlfriend and I have already decided that if we get married (big if) we're having our first dance to 'Your Hand In Mine' by Explosions in the Sky. We both think it's a truly beautiful piece of music.

The cake will be chocolate with strawberries and truffles... it's actually a valentines day cake converted into a wedding cake.
I don't really find it traumatic... though it was played during the televised funeral of JFK...errr... but I find it more gentle and haunting then traumatic.
Well...I think I might choose...

That cake is pretty damn close except it will be tiered.
And my God... all we've thought of is the family... its been a nightmare. You're kind of selling this song to me.

you've been staring at it through the shop window again haven’t you :p (and beware cake pickers after your vulnerable strawberries!)

considering who's paying for the wedding you might want to reassess the situation considerably lest you upset the already weary father :D

Its very majestic.. but isn't it a little overly sad.. I mean its usually played at funerals isn't it?
It is supposed to be a happy time right? I can see why you like it. Its a lovely, moving and beautiful piece.. just seems like it might be a bit of a downer.... you might have to be careful when you play it, as at the wrong time it might come across as melancholy rather than stately.
Perhaps as an entrance when the 2 of you are separate it could emphasise your beauty while alone.. but that you are ultimatly a little sad by yourself. And then when you 2 are together you could play a more up beat number to show that you are happier together..
Dunno.. just my 2 cents. But weddings are very personal things so yeah .. just ignore me..lol
We had our wedding in the park with just us and a celebrant and the reception was in our backyard packed full of 100 drunken friends partying to electro so ... each to their own I say :)

The song itself is slightly melancholy, no? It is your wedding of course, but I would have personally gone with something a bit more upbeat. I knew a couple who used the love theme from "Shrek" and it actually worked out quite well.

I gotta give you points for at least not using that fucking Pachabel piece...bah...
I have to agree that it's a little solemn for a wedding, but ultimately it has to mean something to the two of you and that's all that really matters.
Play the llama song. This is good too though.

A beautiful piece and full of the intense emotions that should be part of a wedding, but as others have said, a tad melancholic. A similar piece you might like would be Mahler's Adagietto from his 5th Symphony, but again, when such intense romantic notions are in place, it seems a melancholic touch is unavoidable.
Ought play "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" at the wedding.
