I was wrong!

Yes, I said it, though it's not so earth shattering as you might think (note the sarcasm).

In previous threads, I have called Calvinism and Reformed theology the same thing, saying that Reformed theology is the offical name. I was incorrect. Calvinism is a type of Reformed theology.

Reformed theology consists of:
predestination as defined by Calvin, Luther, Augustine, etc.
covenant (as opposed to dispensationalist) theology
Evangelicalism (saved by grace alone, through faith alone, by the works of Christ alone, as told by Scripture alone)

Calvinism adds:
Consubstantion (Christ is spiritually present in the Communion, not physically, but it is not a mere memorial)
the idea that a believer must have assurance of salvation to be a believer (can't think of the name, sorry)
regualtive worship (only what God has commanded should be used in worship, rather than everything but what God has forbidden)

Very few note the difference, and you will probably never meet anyone who observes it. Most people use them as synonyms. But, I have recently discovered that many Reformed theologians draw the distinction I stated above.

So, I'm definately Reformed, and I lean toward Calvinism in some things (consubstantiation and regualtive worship), but not in others.

Anyway, just wanted to give you all the correct information.

I apologize if this is spam. I don't think it is, but you moderators may disagree.
