anyone watch it?
ireland lost but i still enjoyed it. it was so violent!
i dont think any other team sport allows brawling while the game is still being played. yellow card in the first 20 seconds. first 8 mins was mostly just fighting.
australlia was a bit overly rough but i prefere to watch ireland lose and be it a violent match than to see ireland win and be it a gentle game.
international rules makes rugby look like badminton.

International rules... that's that funky weird sport played with a round ball, goal posts much like AFL but with a soccer type goal included and played on a rectangular pitch right?

Just checking that I'm thinking of the right sport, 'tis all.

No, I didn't watch it, but I watched the sport described above last year. It's the most incredibly watchable sport I've come across to date. AFL is the only sport that even comes close.

BTW, it's spelt Australia, mate. :p

The violence in the International Rules games is toned down from the violence in the standard AFL games. The players tend to be on better behaviour in the international games.

some of things they did was just not sporting. like irish guy running towards goal the aussie elbowing in the face nearly breaking his neck. but was entertaining.

Pointless really, as a quick look at the size of the Australian lads shows who's going to come out top in a physical "hard" game. That the extra training that comes with professionalism and theres no real answer to it. Mind you, with a 60,000 attendance, they'll probably go through the whole ordeal again just for the few bob in the coffers.

As ever we got the crap kicked out of us. I think we lost the game too. We should start training boxers in the basics of Aussie rules and put them on instead of GAA players.

Hahaa, that's pretty standard for Aussie Rules. You should send some of your lads down here to play in some regional leagues and toughen 'em up.

A lot of them do, and are actually quite successful. ( O hAilpin, Kennelly to name two off my head)

I hope everyone who was saying "Wah wah. People whining about being too physical har har har" are happy that 29,000 children (out of 82,000 spectators) in the stadium witnessed some barbaric displays of violence (some even before the tip off), that is not witnessed in either league.

Again, the fact the Australians played much better football and were all round better on the day (for the second year running) has been over shadowed by ugly violence that does nothing for either sport (again, for the second year running).

It is the end of the series- the President of the governing body in Ireland has essentially said so. I hope both set of players are happy with that.
