The new James Bond movie, will it be good, will it be bad?

It's going to be a lot less farfetched with less gadgets apparently, but Daniel Craig is blond  isn't that illegal?:p

I've never liked bond movies, usually because they're too far-fetched and have too much outrageous gadgetry and womanizing. Maybe I'll give this one a try.

If they live up to the promise of the teaser and trailer, this will be the best one in 30 years.

i dont declare a movie to be good or bad until ive actually seen it. although i find the james bond franchise to be stale so i doubt ill see it unless i see a review (or 3) that says its great

the new guy may be blond but at least he's got a good face. bond shouldnt be a pretty boy.

If you want to be technical, nearly all the Bonds were too old to play the part (especially Roger Moore). Bond's supposed to be grey-eyed and I don't believe any of them were, and Tim Dalton if I recall aright had light hair already.

I have to say that this looks worth seeing so far. Certainly better than the travesty that the "Casino Royale" of the 1960s was (and not done by the Broccoli group, as I recall).

Hopefully, this represents a "reboot" and will give us the chance to see movies that somewhat resemble the original stories Fleming wrote rather than the idiotic special effects that strangled the stories (Moonraker, anyone?).

I didn't think this would be very good, and I really doubted Craig's ability to play Bond...

Craig looks (aside from the hair) and sounds a lot like a young Sean Connery, so that bodes well. I'm not expecting him to have the acting capability of Connery (few do), but frankly playing James Bond ain't Shakespeare.

Further, everything I've seen says they have a solid script and director. If they play their cards right, they could revitalize the franchise for another forty years.

It was not a funny story, and that's why Niven's version is a travesty.

I seem to recall Timothy Dalton having lighter hair, myself, but if you google pictures, his hair's fairly dark.

Hair colour aside, I cannot wait for the 17th. Craig looks like he'll do a pretty darn good job, though Brosnan will always be my favourite Bond. (I know, I know, it's a travesty, Connery's the original, blah blah blah. Brosnan is basically the sexiest man alive, and he just made Bond, in my eyes.)

I hope they put more of a story to this than the other recent Bond Films.

Even Moonraker had a "Find the stolen shuttle" turn into an attempt to euthanize the world.

I think Craig will be the best thing to happen to Bond since Sean Connery. And it looks like the new Casino Royale could definitely turn the franchise around by giving us more and better stories and less SFX gee-whizzery.

I just read the book a few days ago. Now I am hoping that the movie doesn't follow the book closely, as I found the book rather dull. I cannot wait till the 17th either. I really didn't think Daniel Craig was a good fit when I first heard about it, Brosnan has been my personal favorite of all the Bond actors, but Craig looks the part to me now and the trailer looks really damned good.

I wonder what people would be saying about the while Connery-Moore thing now if Sir Roger had actually been the first Bond like Fleming wanted?

You'all do know that the David Niven version was considered to be a parody, right?

I LIKED Die Another Day. To me, the worst Bond flick was the very last one Connery did. Never Say Never Again, the one he did with Klaus Maria Brandauer, Kim Basinger and Barbara Carrera. Not a good remake of one of the older ones.

You mean the renamed Thunderball that isn't an official film? It was OK. Ish. Brandauer was a more menacing Largo than Adolfo Celi, but I love Celi's look.

DAD was just so....ugh. Madona should never have been allowed to be in it or to do the theme song; just because her cock du jour was the direator doesn't allow her to do things. The plot was so blase. The only thing I really trully enjoyed about it was that Bond was left to the North Koreans for a year. I loved that he was written off as expendable, because he is/was.

On a more personal level, DAD has the only theme song from all the bond flicks that I cannot stand. Even Rita Coolidge's "All Time High" is better than that piece of shit. They really should've asked Björk to do it, seeing as it's set in Iceland & all. Also, her cover of "You Only Live Twice" is GORRRRRGEOUS.

"You're mad!"

"Well, they would have if he had carried on like this."

Classic.

One thing I truly love about the franchise is that every generation has their own "Bond". My father had Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnen will always be the real 'Bond' in my eyes. Daniel Craig will be bringing the franchise to the younger audience.

Honestly when I first heard of what happened (they called Pierce to play, he agreed, later they said sorry we got someone else...and he..is...blonde! (as well as not Peirce B.)) then I saw the trailer and I actually think this movie will be the best new Bond film yet (Goldeneye will forever be the best movie Ever-Made in my eyes)

I cant wait now.

Didn't P.Diddy say something like "the World is ready for a black James Bond", and then offer himself for the part? That instantly made me think that they should remake Roots starring Jackie Chan as Kunta Kinte.

Anyway, I've been a fan of Bond movies since I was four years old, and I can't wait for this one. I just wish they had picked an actor who looks like his predecessors.

James Bond is not female. James Bond is Welsh, and very much a male. I simply would not see a Janine Bond movie and certainly wouldn't spend a DIME on anything starring P. Diddy.

If the world is ready for a black Bond, at least let him be TALENTED. Like Samuel L. Jackson, for example.

Umm, Kat? Bond is Scottish. I've seen it elsewhere, but one of the trivia bullets on Wiki says that after he saw Connery play Bond, Fleming went and added more background to the character, giving him a Scottish father.

One of the draws of 'the departed' was watching loud, wince-causing depictions of very graphic violence being done to the twin worms M. Damon and L. Dicaprio.

If this turned out the same way, I would see it, but it wont so I wont.
