About thirty minutes ago I finally got my cat out of the tree she's been in all night. I hadn't seen her all evening, even though I'd stuck my head out the door and called her a couple of times. Around two this morning I finally decided to look for her. After calling a little while I heard her yowling. I followed the sound to a tree about a block away. In the middle of a fenced in yard with large dogs. I tried my best to coax her down but she just sat up there and yowled piteously. After about a half hour later I gave up.

So a little while ago I went back over there. The homeowner was up, so I knocked on the door and enlisted his help. He had a large antenna which he allowed me to climb to reach his roof. Then I borrowed his ladder, which barely reached one of the small limbs on the tree. After twenty minutes of pleading, I managed to coax the cat to crawl down the ladder. I dragged her little ass home, but the moment I got her in the house she headed for the door. Wanted back out.

Anybody want a cat?

Got one. And she and I are much happier now that we ended the "letting the cat roam the neighborhood where she could be attacked by dogs, run over by cars, or stolen" BS.

Keep her inside no matter how much she bitches about it -- she'll eventually lose the desire to go out. Of course that means cleaning her litter box more often and providing something for her to claw other than the sofa, but them's the breaks.

And a one bedroom. Everyone knows I'm a sucker, so I end up rescuing more than I actually find myself.

In that case, you're really asking for the situation you're in, and should be prepared to lose a pet or two. You can't blame the cat for a behavior you're allowing, and you can't really care adequately for twelve cats in the room you have. Personally, I question how fair it is to the animals in the situation.

You know it's illegal in Oklahoma to have more than 2 cats per sleeping area, right? so if you have a 1 bedroom apt. you can only have 2 cats.

*not that I want to annoy you, but if animal control finds out it's a pretty huge fine, my neighbor got caught with 25 cats in her 4 bedroom house, she has a lien on her house now because of it, and they didn't even let her keep any, they took them all away.

Maggie's pretty onery. We'll get her riled up by tickling her belly, then she'll jump one of the other cats.

Actually it's a city by city thing. There was actually a big stink in a town about twenty miles from here. Turned out some guy in California found out the town of Holdenville had no ordinance about the number of cats. So he moved there with 65 cats. Then Holdenville decided to make an ordinance, but he said it didn't apply to him retroactively.

I would have a cat but my lease says I can't have any. Apparently my neighbors asked for an exception and got it and they said I probably could too. If I weren't going overseas in January I'd probably have one by now.

Yeah, if I didn't find homes for most of them I'd have about 40 of them. And four of them are kittens that should be easy to find homes for.

I found out a long time ago, don't let your cat out. Turn her or him into an indoor cat. If she isn't spayed or he isn't neutered get it done NOW. That helps in turning your cat into an indoor cat. (from a person who has had both outdoors and indoors cats since 1969.)

Depends on the city. In Owasso you can have three cats and two dogs. But you can not have more than three cats, or two dogs.

Please find a no-kill shelter. You can check on-line; Alley-cat Allies might be able to help. Call them at once. Twelve cats is more than any one person can reasonable be expected to care for adequately. I have four, all indoor cats, and that stretches my abilities to the max.
