Ok,I pose a question to NS users. What is the best team in the NFL?
Also, could someone please tell me how to make a poll for this?

After last Sunday's games, Indianapolis, Chicago, and New England emerged as the likeliest potential Super Bowl champions. It's too early to pick one team, but those three are the clear favorites.

Indianapolis: Peyton Manning chokes in big games.

New England & Chicago: The favorites to play; if Grossman stays healthy, Chicago may even have the offense to win. Otherwise I would say New England (of course, it will probably end up being neither; re: the Steelers winning last year as a wild card).

Individual talent. But you don't have a team down in Washington. You have 22 teams. And until they learn how to play as one, you'll see many, many 6-10 seasons.

Yes,I know.I was mainly joking in my post.We stink this year.I do have hope that we can pull a comeback. We are facing Dallas this weekend and they are our main rivals so I hope we can at least beat them.

I don't know what sort of comeback you expect, but if you guys go 7-2 the rest of the season you're looking at an outside chance of a playoff spot at the very best.

Well i see it as,if we all the rest of our games we will be 10-6 and that will ussualy get you a wildcard spot.last year we won 5 in a row to go to the playoffs so 8 in a row isnt that far off.

New England.

After watching how Grossman played against Arizona I can see that he has a looooong way to go, sheer luck and a high amount of bad play by the cards is the only reason they won that game. Chicago is a paper tiger, Indy can't win if they need to depend on defence, and that leaves the pats.

I can beat most teams with the Jets at All-Madden as long as I'm using my own playbooks. But they are depressing, so when I started a franchise I did a fantasy draft instead of using the Jets for the first time since I got Madden '98 oh so long ago (not that they had franchise, they only had season mode(i think)).

Plus the Jets look like they will be pretty good next year. Eric (he's not a)Man(he's a )gini looks to be a good head coach, and they drafted very well this year.

So, are we just going to completely ignore the ability of the Broncos' defense, then? Are we going to ignore Champ Bailey and his 99-YARD INTERCEPTION RETURN, done against Brady, no less? Nyet, I say, my dear Utracia. Nyet. The Pats may improve. They're a good team, I'll grant 'em that. A great team even. But the last two times they faced my Broncos, they failed. Can the zebra say force out? here: f-o-r-c-e o-u-t force out. That was one of the worst calls I've seen in a crucial point in a football game. Honestly. The NFL needs to stop being so goddamn cheap and hire some refs who aren't 60 year old lawyers.

You know what? I agree with you. I think he would've come down in bounds. However, 'judgement calls' are just that (Please note my earlier 1987 field goal comment). You'll still be angry about it 20 years from now (maybe not; it wasn't the AFC championship game...).

And they didn't stop a rushing attack with a backup Div III O-Line...that's what the Browns have.

In closing...(oh how I love to taunt, I get so few opportunities...)

Bah, don't worry about it. I'm not offended. We're all entitled to our opinions.

By the way, gang, I wish good luck to all teams...except one. There's only one team that deserves to lose every game it ever plays in, that should never be allowed to win. Of course, that is the Raiders. So, uh, sorry if anyone is a Raiders fan here, but your team can go to hell. Rest of ya, though, good luck.

I am another Skins fan, sadly and I will agree that we have the most talent on our team, but no true leader emerges. Plus Brunell is a fucking tool who needs to end his career. Our owner's not too sharp either.

I think the Chargers and Ravens are going to stay very competitive in the AFC, but I think the overall NFL best is a competition between Indy and ... sigh ... as much as I hate to say it, New England. As long as Peyton and his offense (with exception to their running back...) stay healthy, I think a 15 win season is not out of the question. Their defense is shaky, but Peyton somehow finds a way to shoulder the whole team and win. It may not be the prettiest, but it gets done. The Pats are just starting to scare me with how solid they've been, and I definitely think they're striving to show that they can dominate their way back to the title of Super Bowl champs. The game this week should be a treat.

Other Mentionables: Denver (Do they even know what a bad running back is?), New Orleans (Cinderella found her lost slipper?), NY (Obviously not the Jets), Atlanta (Vick is more impressive every week), Chicago (I don't see them winning, but damn is their defense nasty!)

No, I don't think we do. We just keep getting lucky every single time we hire someone to be our running back. 'Course, they're usually on the team for a couple years or so before the primary one retires/goes to another team/whatever, but that's standard practice for any player in any positions anyway.

Todsboro: I watched a few pieces of that game. Lemme tell ya, I enjoy watching the Raiders lose. Hell, when I was doing a Franchise in Madden 2005, I played all the Raiders games as well as Broncos games and intentionally forced the Raiders to lose(by playing as them and allowing the other team to score all sorts of points) all sixteen regular season games, just so I could hear the EA Sports Radio segment about it. God DAMN that was so enjoyable listening to that poor caller cry and cry about how his Raiders lost all of their games. HILARIOUS!

That, my friend, is dedication. Al Davis would be proud of your 'Commitment to Excellance'.

However, don't sell the Bronco's RB's short. They draft good linemen, train them well, and MOST importantly, pick good RB's to fit their scheme (i.e. 'Hit the Hole; Make ONE (just one) cut; and fall forward.

Oh, yes, I'm well versed with our linemen. A pity Matt Lepsis had a season--and probably career--ruining injury.

You're welcome for Droughns, and as for Courtney Brown...I dunno. I'm not sure I've been paying as much attention to the real life team as I have to my current franchise team, which is somewhat different. (I, for instance, have Michael Bennet as my halfback. I mean, seriously --- he looked just like Troy Aikman when he would come back from a concussion. Interceptions, fumbles, sacks... Ugh.

Why, Bill, WHY?

However, he has thrown 350 yds this game. I think if he can cotnrol the turn over bullshit he is pulling, then they would be getting some place.

Yeah. There's just no excuse for what he's putting Ben through.

Remember his Super Bowl performance? He was playing with a fricking broken thumb on his throwing hand! His passes were shoddy, usually missing their intended mark, or fluttering madly.

And people wonder why his rating was in the 20's...

I am from MA so I grew up with the Pats. Just because I moved to Cincy doesn't make me change allegiance. Still, it would be nice if the Bengals could actually win more often. The game against the Ravens today was painful. I'd really love to see my Patriots beat the Bengals in a playoff game. :)

Anyway, how the fuck does Miami score 31 at Chicago? That makes no sense in any way at all. And Viniterie (sp?) missing two field goals at New England? I thought the whole reason that the Colts got him was that he would be able to kick there. They won anyway, but has he lost his clutchness?

The last time the Jets beat the Pats was in 2002. That game was the last time the Pats have lost their second conscutive game. There are already some ties between the Jets '06 season and their '02 season. Both years the Jets play the NFC North. Both years they beat Buffalo at Buffalo. Both years they get blown out by Jacksonville. Both years they lose a close game to the Browns. Both years they beat Detroit. Coincidence? I think not. Therefor the only logical conclusion is that the Jets are going to win the super bowl the next 10 years.

As good as the Colts are, they've been better in years past and choked in the playoffs. The team that Manning has now is not as good, and has more weaknesses, than the team that couldn't beat the number six seed last year. If the Colts and Manning are to win a Super Bowl, they'll have to do it as an underdog, because they've built up such a legacy of being overhyped and collapsing in the playoffs. They'll never be favorites until they win one.

Chicago has been exposed, so it's hard to pick them from the NFC anymore. The Giants are one Tom Coughlin extravaganza away from folding like so many times before. The Saints look solid, especially with two RotY contenders on the offense, but they're the Saints. If Seattle can keep from falling apart while what seems like their entire team returns from injury, they can make the run, but that's only if they don't play themselves out of the playoffs now. Then there's Atlanta, Dallas, Carolina, Philadelphia, Minnesota, and St. Louis, who alternate games looking like Super Bowl contenders and looking like high school JV teams. It's hard to pick the NFC.

Why do the Dolphins have to wait until now to start winning? Sheesh, the win over the Bears was nice, and beating a 5-3 team is an improvement, but come on...coming from 1-6 is not the way to make the playoffs.

On the other hand, I am reminded again of the 1985 season, assuming it holds up...the Bears went 15-1 and won the Super Bowl. They lost that one game to...the Dolphins. Now granted, in 1985 the Dolphins were worth a damn and actually came within a game of a Super Bowl rematch, but still...it could happen.

Thouse Jets are one of thouse inconsizstent teams that have alot of talent but dont execute alot.

Please.

The Jets are one of the most, if not the most overrated team in the NFL, second perhaps only to the Colts.

Why?

Because they are the NEW YORK Jets, and therefore the asshat New York media sucks their flaccid cocks year round.

Look at the Jest history, quite simply they suck.

Even when they had Joe Namath, who is the most overrated player in NFL history, they only won the Super Bowl 'cause they were lucky.

As for this years team, as long as they have Chad pennington as their qb, they are going to suck dick. He can't throw for shit. After two major surgeries on his throwing arm I'm surprised that he's still in the league, let alone a starting qb. But then, this is the Jets we're talking about.

As for the other New York football team, where the fuck did all of this talk about Tiki Barber being a Hall of Famer come from?

Shit, he isn't even the best running back in his division, let alone the conference. His career stats aren't HoF worthy and he wasn't in the Top 10 in terms of being one of the dominating rb's of his era.

Finally, Brett Favre needs to stop being a selfish douche and bench himself. He's doing a disservice not only to the team but also to the fans as well as his back-up/heir apparent Aaron Rogers. The fact that Favre has stated on numerous occasions that he has refused to offer Rogers any help or advice shows what a self centered selfish shitheap Favre is.

The New York sports media bashes the Jets a TON. The New York media has killed basically EVERYONE in Jets history at one point or another, Even Namath. Everyone in New York knows that the Jets have never been good and are not good right now. There was almost no one in the New York media claiming that the Jets would do any better than five wins all season. A lot of people, me included, predicted them to win three games this year. Which is why people are very impressed that they came out of the first half of the season at four and four. And a team that "sucks dick" is going to have a hard time beating the Patriots at Foxboro. I'm not seriously claiming the Jets are great, but they are a solid team right now. I have no idea where you got these ideas.

I honestly don't know much about Tiki Barber, but a few people I know have said that would be a borderline hall of famer if he played out his carreer.

I agree with you on most of your points except for brett farve.Brett may have had a shitty season last ear but this year he is not doing that bad.He is not having the interception problem he had last year and were talking about Brett Farve, one of the most beloved players in NFL history (and most certainly Packers history),who had a great game last week.At the end of the year he should retire and pass the gauntlet but for this old vets sake lets give him one last run.

By far the Buffalo Sabres! They may have not managed to break the record, but they are pretty good this season.:sniper:

They'd better, or else ion three years when they get to choose between being broke again or having only three players, they're going to be in trouble.

Go Leafs.

A couple weeks back I would have said the Bears. But now I think its the San Diego Super Chargers! They have as much offensive firepower as the colts with LT and Rivers, plus they actually have a strong D, unlike the colts. And what makes the better than the Bears? Steady QB play.

OK, how about Da Bears in da Indy 500?

How will they run it?

Da Bears in a giant bus.

Is Ditka driving?

Of course.

Then I'll take Da Bears.

I felt obligated to vote for the home team, the New Orleans Saints (6-3), though I truly feel it's the Colts! But hey...WE'VE GOT BUSH!!! ;)

I will not make any playoff predictions.

That being said, the Jets face only one team with a record of .500 or better from now on (the bears). Just saying.

Still a big maybe. I'd be ecstatic with .500, considering my predictions at the begining of the year.

Chargers look sick, but there defense is shaky. L.T. the 2nd is a beast. Bears are not all that good, barely beat a mediocre Jets team. Grossman isn't a super bowl quarterback. Colts bubble is burst, they are worse than they have ever been in the last three or four years. Cowboys have a good chance to make a run deep, maybe. Vick is still too unpredictable. Eagles are dead now. Dolphins might make a late run.

I'm a Browns fan; I have a hard time believing that any team that the Browns beat are a playoff-caliber team.

It's wrong that I'm somewhat satisfied that the Browns lost a game yesterday vs. the Steelers that they should have won...I shouldn't be satisfied with a 'competitive' team...yet I am. Did I mention that I'm a Browns fan?? :headbang:

Pats needed a comeback win and they got it! Sure, it was only against Green Bay but anything to stop that awful skid...

Now hopefully they can go back to winning! Yay!
