LOL, you know, I've wondered about how many votes swung from D to R this week. And how many disgusted Republicans realized that this guy might be in the majority party if they didn't go to the polls.

Kerry may be the best Republican campaigner, yet.

I do believe we have heard the last from Mr Kerry until after the elections.

Was just thinking that the other day. This guy is a huge liability to his party. I heard a snip of a interview with Kerry that had the host telling him to shut his mouth because he was damaging the party. Was a lib host btw. Good stuff I tell ya. I hope he isn't still wondering why he lost in '04.

Well I believe the actual audio of Kerry is proof enough. For the eye witness stuff well who's to say. But I was specifically mentioning the ramblings of past speeches he made against the military. I have heard a large number to convince me of this guy. I would believe this guy won't have a chance in hell to run again for pres. Guess this is a big bonus for Hillary.

I'm sorry, but no. We can still discuss it if we like. You can choose not to read it if you like.

I'm a Democrat and it's pretty clear to me that he misspoke, and that his explanation of what he meant to say is about as convincing to me as a three year old with chocolate frosting on his face telling his mom, "I dunno who ate the last piece of cake."

Has Kerry explained what he meant, other than to describe it as a 'joke which went wrong' or whatever?

Don't people who want a college education sometimes join the forces to get that? If so, that's the line I'd take, if I were Kerry. Luckily I'm not.

Sure, it's not a huge story, but in the interests of balance it has to play bigger than it deserves. Republicans need something to feel good about -- they're about to get reamed by the sound of it.

I don't remember the EXACT wording, but it was a one-word mistake. He said something along the lines of, "If you don't get good grades in school, you'll get stuck in Iraq". He meant to say "If you don't get good grades in school, you'll get us stuck in Iraq.", as a reference to Bush.

Even if he did mean to say that, I think that saying "There ought to be limits to freedom" should be a LOT more disturbing to America than a jab at the intelligence of the military.

This country disgusts me, sometimes. I still love it, but... Damn, guys. Let's get our act together.

"Then he said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." There were a few polite titters from the audience."

I've seen the clip. That's what he says. He does not mention Bush. He is clearly referring to the students, not Bush, when he says "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well." Why then, when he makes NO reference to the president, do people assume he was talking about Bush when he says, "If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."?

It was a bad choice of words, and I am sorry he said it -- it deflects attention temporarily from the mismanagement rampant in Congress today.

They are laughing at Kerry for calling them dumb. Especially since it is not possible, as far as I know, to get into the forces without at least a HS diploma or GED. And because there are many servicemen and women who get into the forces in order to get their college education and/or specialized technical training which makes them QUITE valuable to the workforce after their hitch (providing, of course, that they are not killed).

This whole thing is classic making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Face it. There are STUPID people in Iraq. My wife has a friend whose nephew is there. About the only thing this guy is capable of doing is digging ditches and driving.

The dope agreed to drive fuel trucks. Hope he never get's hit with an RPG.

Are all soldiers stupid? Of course not.

My wifes cousin rotated out. He was working on his MBA before he decided to join up. 9/11 motivated him

One of the major names of the Perl world just rotated out.

Kerry was stupid no doubt.

The repubs are running scared to the point where they almost had a rumble over who gets to use this situation.

The last thing the Republican strategists need is more references to Iraq.

Did Kerry change some votes? Doubtful. If they did change, they were probably leaning that way before this....

It's funny the fact soooo many people are upset of this rather simpleminded situation when there is greator crap being thrown by both sides.

I think it's Tennessee where one side is making up a mistress for the other candidate. They managed to mix the black white thing as well. Yet, nobody is bitching about that.

So Kerry said something stupid. *YAWN* The shrub has him beat to the nth degree. Then again they were both edumacted at the same school.

Why are we arguing over which idiot is smarter? Has our country declined that we are debating the merits of two people with C averages?

Bah, I hate American politics these days. Both parties want to lead the country in the wrong direction, they're more interested in beating the other party on some non-issue than working together. The Democrats are spineless wimps, the Republicans are psychotic nutjobs. The Democrats don't have much of a plan for the future, the Republicans' plan sounds like something out of 1984. Both parties air attack ads that twist the truth or lie outright, neither offer substantial arguments. The American public gets its news from FOX, and its politics from half-minute commercials involving smiling toddlers, American flags and farmers.

Obviously, I'm generalising. Further, I'm not being particularly articulate. Oh, well. Pre-election depression motivated me to post this, not reason. Bah.

A St. Vincent folk song called 'Joshua Gone Barbados' comes to mind.

People like to think Rush has more power than he actually does. He's just a talk show host, that's it, and personally I was on Fox side when he said it. My point is, people know what Rush talks about on his show, they know what to expect from him, so it's really not that much of a surprise. However, politicians like Kerry and Bush are held to a higher standard, even though they both fall below that standards many times.

That's funny, considering the "mis-speaking" and "mis-understanding" that popped up under Pope Benedict.
