Why do they hate Nintendo?

In case you haven't heard, the upcoming Nintendo console Wii was featured in the last South Park episode.

To the unsuspecting eye this might seem flattering for Nintendo, but in reality this seems more like some evil plot by South Park authors Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Why?

The other two consoles that have been featured on South Park were the Dreamcast and the PSP... :(

Will Nintendo be cursed from now on?

Oh, and here's (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/top/wii-launches-in-south-park-211816.php) the episode in case you missed it.

You forget the xbox-gamecube thing they had back when they weren't big enough to actually use copyrighted material on their show.

The Okama(?) Gamesphere?

Wasn't that the one that turend Cartman into a Tetsuo-like... something?

However, since it was not directly named after an existing product, I guess the curse struck the Gizmondo instead.

I dont like nitendo either. Red Steel looks cool enough but it wont change thier long running tradition of quircky, cute games. Eh, I just dont like Anime in general, and so many of their games are featured that way.

According to Wikipedia, both Matt and Trey are looking eagerly forward to the Wii.

You don't like a company that goes for young-kid friendly games? I've actually seen less Anime-based games on the shelves for the Nintendo system, than for the PS2.

Nintendo is hated because they don't cater to hardcore, devoted gamers and spend too much time worrying about new people. I tell you what, if little kids or girls or senior citizens were going to play video games, THEY'D HAVE DONE IT BY NOW!

Nintendo forgets the people who made it and gave them all their hard-earned cash. And that is why they hate it. They take your cash and then say, "we're not gonna worry about you." Who likes a company like that?

I hate nintendo. We used to have a wonderful relationship. My whole childhood is girt with flowers and sunshine outside my window whilst I played the SNES. Looking over the shoulders of my friends as they played their ever-so-chunky-yet-awesomely-grey-gameboys. Then nintendo decided to piss all over everything we had with that unmentionable abomination. To add further insult to injury they then released yet another piece of shit console and a handheld system to further rub salt into my wounds. I liked liking nintendo. I really did. They are cool in their way. But I can't like them now, not when they are the pond scum of entertainment. If the Wii isn't completely shit-lickingtabulous, maybe we can begin reconciliation. Until then...we shall have no contact.

Except that kids are born everyday, and there might as well be something out on the market that's affordable and has plenty of games that mom won't shit a brick about when she sees it. So little Tommy and Tina can play Happy Colors Sing-a-Long Super Cuddly Adventure and I can play Sweet Fucking Crap, I'm Going to Kill You and Slice Off Your Hands and Use Them as a Controller...it's a good thing. I don't have to play it.

All game consoles are overhyped-pieces-of-crap. The Wii is no different.

Ah, because the tiny minority of gamers who call themselves "hardcore, are so much more important than the rest of us who do not? My sister and her husband own a Gamecube. They got it precisely because it had a good sized library of games my two nieces can play without giving them nightmares. Not everyone who plays console games is hardcore. So they are goiing after the rather large segment that isn't. I fail to see why that would make anyone hate them. Shit you still have two other fucking consoles that DO cater to over-enthusiasts. Poor hardcore babies. One of the three platforms doesn't cater to you. That is just so damned sad.:p

Im still perfectly happy with my PC anyway. I like having a system for five years and being able to play games that came out yesterday. Go customization! The Wii controller looks innovative...but it also looks like a pain in the ass to use, particularly if you are tired.

That was the episode they had to turn Towlie into a government agency in order to get their Gamesphere, which looked like a bloated X-Box, back. The entire episode was the boys going back and forth through a conspiracy involving super towels, TNA, and aliens while calculating how much time they would have left to play the Gamesphere.

It was a Trapper-Keeper that turned Cartman into a Tetsuo-like thing.

On topic, I think the Wii will have a few more titles for the "hardcore" crowd, but it'll still focus on family friendly games. Although, the temptation to design a whole slew of shooting games around that controller must be killing game developers.

I don't need to have played it to be able to say, definitively, that it will not live up to the unrealistic expectations the Nintendo fanboys have. The motion sensor isn't that great an innovation. I predict that the Wii will sell like hotcakes for the first month, then once the first reviews are in, saying it's shit, it'll bomb totally compared to the PS3. You can quote me on that if I'm wrong.

That's funny, because every single magazine and website was slamming the Wii, until the editors actually got playing time with it. It was after that point that the Wii's popularity skyrocketed.

I honestly don't know what it is with some of you people. Would it kill you to stop and think for just a minute, or even do some research before you post and make yourselves look like buffoons?

I love PCs, especially for shooters, but the big gaming companies often don't cater to the PC crowd. For example: Activision (It is Activision, right?) isn't releasing Call of Duty III for the PC, even though it's one of the most popular and best wartime shooter series ever made for it.

I dunno, man. I was seriously disappointed by Call of Duty II. At least I *ahem* downloaded it and deleted it a day later, which saved me around $50. If Call of Duty III is going to be anything like the second, I definitely won't give a shit.

*shrug* It must be a difference in tastes. I thoroughly enjoyed Call of Duty II, and, IMHO, it makes the entire Medal of Honor series look like crap (and I'm not talking about graphics here).

My only problem with it is that it wasn't challenging enough...

Oh, there's no doubt that CoD makes MoH look like total shit. I was just disappointed by CoD II, because Gamespot and Game Informer said it would be unbelievable. And, when they finally reviewed it, they confirmed what they were saying during the previews.

So, I go off to *cough* download it, and whaddya know? It's basically a graphical update of the original Call of Duty. I didn't like the fact that they didn't even bother to update the sound effects, though that wasn't my biggest problem. My biggest problem with the game, by far, was the graphics.

Yeah, they were "next-gen". Heh, sure. Then why did the character models remind me of The Man In The Yellow Hat (keep in mind that I had a P4 3.4ghz 1gb DDR2 400mhz GeForce 6800GTO rig at the time)? They looked very stiff even when they weren't moving, and the movements themselves were hideous.

I was appalled, because the original Call of Duty's character models actually looked more life-like.
