The Colbert Report

I'm sure many of you watch this program and, if not, you should.
Anyway, we all know Colbert lampoons the Right in such a way as to make the Right think he's one of them, but he is, in fact, just as much a screaming leftist liberal as John Stewart.
However, he said something on his program tonight that just floored me.
He said, "Bush administration policies created 104 new job openings just last month!"
This is, of course, in reference to the 104 US Soldiers killed in Iraq in October.
Normally Colbert is a lot more subtle, but I have to give props to this huge *baZing* on his part.
There's no question here, nor any real opening for discussion, just a shout out to Stephen and a thank to him for growing even hairier balls.
Colbert rocks my world. :)

I probably wouldn't have watched it if you never mentioned the line.

Generally speaking, I think he tries too hard. However, he has had some specifically hilarious moments. *nod*

And I had to miss it?!
Oh, professor TO, you better give me a good grade on this paper.......
Although, Colbert has more than proven his balls match those of LG at the very least with the White House Correspondents dinner.
Edit: Ironicly, LG posted just moments before me. Go figure.

I dig the Colbert Report, but, unfortunately, it's on too late for me to watch. (I have school early in the morning). I watched it alot in the summer, though.

I like him. He reminds me of people like Bill O'Reilly, only actually funny.
I think he does the over-the-top lampoon pretty well. But, hey, personal opinion ya? I also find Benny Hill funny, so don't listen to me. ;)

Oh that was classic and priceless. I know W has a (albeit strange) sense of humor, which made it even more hilarious.

Actually, I was messing around on Youtube earlier, putting off this paper (as I'm doing now, despite it being 2 AM), and found a clip from ABC...appearently, when he was doing the audition tape segment, ABC focused their camera on him. He didn't look pleased at all.
They also just recently made the whole thing available on itunes, but I guess sped the play on some parts to make it fit a time limit

Well, ol' W ... even though he ran twice as a "Washington Outsider", feigned amusement at several points. He tries so hard to be the "good ol' boy".
As an actual Texan (9th generation, thank you), it makes me giggle to see this Connecticut born Yank claim any affiliation with the Lone Star State. ;)
But, hey ... if the country buys it ... why not?

I think he just needs to fine tune his persona a bit and become more at ease in his role. He's really quite funny. *nod*

don't worry guys...I don't think they'll pick up on it. What? no...no need to shut down the spawning program. There's bound to be one or two failures every now and then

I'd only really heard bits and pieces about this show, usually with Colbert in the same sentence as Stewart, but I'd never seen it. We get The Daily Show here on SBS, which carries a lot of foreign, obscure and otherwise unpopular programming and I think it's pretty funny, though I suspect you have to be American to appreciate it fully.
I just recently decided to hit YouTube to see Colbert's interview with Richard Dawkins, as I'm a big Dawkins fan and I'd heard the interview was a good one. The resemblance to actual right-wing blowhards is really uncanny. :p
I watched a few more clips and it's good stuff. Hopefully SBS will pick it up too in the near future.

heh...
I liked when he had a segment on feminism - he had two of them putting on aprons and cooking apple pies with him while they discussed women's lib. it was wonderful.
I liked the bit at the end, bagging himself sixteen millionvotes for the award show. Lost time his forum members managed to automate voting, so instead of turning their computers off at night, they had it vote over and over and over.

Heh. Last year I had a high school kid in one of my Comp classes--early admissions girl--but her high school was a local Christian school. She was doing an essay on sex in advertising, and when she emailed me her essay, her school's filtering program had apparently deleted the words sex and sexuality from the attached document. Took me a second to figure out what had happened and why my A student had forgotten so many words in her sentences.
