Ann Coulter's case to go to prosecutors?

Oh, this would be too good. Practically no chance she'd actually go to jail over this, but just the idea that she could actually be held accountable for her actions (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/palmbeach/sfl-111anncoulter,0,4502849.story?coll=sfla-news-palm) as though she were some average person instead of the slanderous hose-beast she is is just too much to hope for.
WEST PALM BEACH -- Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has refused to cooperate in an investigation about whether she voted in the wrong precinct, so the case will likely be turned over to state prosecutors, Palm Beach County's elections chief said Wednesday.

Elections Supervisor Arthur Anderson said his office has been looking into the matter for nearly nine months, and he would turn over the case to the state attorney's office by Friday.

LocalLinks
Coulter's attorney did not immediately return a telephone message Wednesday and her telephone number in Palm Beach is unpublished. A message left for Tara Gilbride, a publicist for Coulter's publisher, The Crown Publishing Group, owned by Random House Inc., was also not immediately returned.

Anderson's office received a complaint in February that Coulter allegedly voted in the wrong precinct during a Feb. 7 Palm Beach town council election. Since then, Anderson said he has made repeated attempts to resolve the matter with Coulter and her attorney but has been rebuffed.

Anderson said an initial letter was sent to Coulter on March 27 requesting that she clarify her address for the voting records ``or face the possibility of her voter registration being rescinded.''

Three more letters were sent to Coulter and her attorney over the next several months, but she has yet to respond with the information requested, Anderson said.

In July, Anderson said, he received a letter from Coulter's attorney, Marcos Daniel Jimenez D'Clouet. The letter said the attorney would only discuss the matter in person or by telephone because he complained Anderson had given details to the media. Anderson said the matter had to be discussed in writing.

Knowingly voting in a wrong precinct is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison, said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the state attorney's office in West Palm Beach.

Edmondson said his office generally reviews such cases, then turns them over to local authorities for a full investigation that could result in an arrest if intent is proven.
I wonder if she'll be on tv to confront these charges in the next couple of days? I look at it as a win-win. If she's on tv, someone will ask her about it. Even Colmes, wimpy as he is, probably wouldn't pass up this kind of chance. And if she stays off tv, well, she's off tv, and that's a net good on its own.

Let's look at this 'fishy' stuff again.

Anderson said, he received a letter from Coulter's attorney, Marcos Daniel Jimenez D'Clouet. The letter said the attorney would only discuss the matter in person or by telephone because he complained Anderson had given details to the media.

Giving details to the media? Why would they do that, why can't they just go down there and talk?

Anderson said the matter had to be discussed in writing.

Asked to correspond in person and was denied? Since when cant a citizen and their representative go down to the city hall and represent themselves and their case to the government workers and offices?

Riiight. Can’t do an exploratory session in person, face to face, write an agreement and sign it? Why not, what political motivation is going on here?

And here we are, reading about the details in the media, something done July, reported in November just before elections are to take place (and Coultier isn't even a politician) and we are suppose to believe what?

OBVIOUSLY the media IS being leaked information,...

Nice

Really, the only thing that surprises me is that I haven't heard of this...and it's not like Coulter's shy...I would have expected a rant to the effect of 'they go after me, but they let dead people vote". Or something like that.

Probably just another politcally motivated prosecution (the timing is a bit suspicious, no ?). Having said that, if she did 'knowingly' break the law, well, I guess I can't defend her on that...

Maybe she's doing 'research for her next book'. Yeah, that's the ticket !!!!;)

Hold on a sec--Limbaugh decidedly broke the law. The only reason he's not in jail is because he's very wealthy and connected--crackheads don't get deferred prosecution because they're broke motherfuckers who don't know anybody, not because they're any more guilty. If anything, Limbaugh's political connections kept him out of the trouble he deserved to be in.

Now let me say of Coulter--the article notes that this is a felony that includes up to 5 years in jail, if they can prove intent on vote fraud. They probably can't, and I doubt they'll try, because it would be a stretch at best. I was laughing at this because it's more of a class issue for me. Coulter has a sense of entitlement that's common among the wealthier among us, and I like to see that sense shattered whenever possible. That's she's a psychotic bitch who makes conservatism look bad is just sauce for the goose.

I do realize shes batshit insane, and I realize she may very well be in violation of the law, what I'm questioning is the timing of the investigation/court caseI'm assuming--and I have to do this because there's precious little detail in the story--that the Elections Supervisor wanted to get this handled earlier and couldn't, and that the statute of limitations to do something was coming close. Now that's a big assumption and it also assumes that the Election Supervisor was working in good faith--also a potential stretch. But Coulter certainly strikes me as the sort of person who would rather claw her eyes out than be forced to explain herself.

what timing?

yes its a few days before the midterm election but she's not running for anything. it cant have an effect on any race.

the more likely thing is that he wants to put public pressure on her to cooperate. she is on notice that she cant ignore that he is going to prosecute her if she doesnt start talking.

the more she drags is out, the more she deserves an actual punishment. she is not above the law because she is famous. at some point it becomes an issue of equal justice and she has to end up on the wrong end of it.

lets test her like they used to test witches. tied her up and put her in a sack. then throw her in a lake. if she sinks - she's innocent. if she floats, she's guilty and should be burned at the stake.

I could honestly care less whether Coultergeist is convicted or even charged, frankly. I don't care whether she voted in the wrong precinct so long she didn't vote more than once. This really is a non-issue; more of a personal stab at someone who frankly earned the contempt she's receiving.

We honestly have more important problems than Coultergeist's choice of voting locations. Better that we point out the blatant falsehood of her assertions and the illogic of her logic. I'd like to see her revealed as the charletan she is rather seeing her convicted of a crime. The real crime is her assault on American intelligence.

If I reached the level where I had the luxury of picking and choosing whom appeared on a show with me, I would probably opt not to have some squeaking prick that disagreed with me too.
Do you want to be able to state your views and opinions, or have someone yell over you and ridiclue everything you say, wether its right or wrong ?
Given that luxury, I'd only go where I looked best. I also wouldnt walk in to a trap, where I could expect to be set up or even pied in teh face.

I would appear, however, if I was allowed to fight the opposing pundit, with one blunt object of our choice.

In fact, I believe this close to elections, it should be mandatory that "pundits" have to fight until submission. Who the fuck are pundits, anyway ?
Do they really speak for you or me? No- they piss gasoline on fires, whip things up to a fever pitch and they PROFIT while you and I are at each other's throats for no fucking reason.

In the real world- I might actually live right next door to a bleeding heart liberal AND I DONT EVEN KNOW IT. We get along fine.

A: I don't think anyone should have any control over who appears on a show with them. They can know who's coming, and can decline to appear if they don't want to be on there with them, but it's just fucking rude and makes you seem like a spoiled brat when you do something like force the host to cancel some other guest because of your preferences.

B: If I knew someone opposite my political views were to be on a show, I'd enjoy it. I enjoy defending my ideas, especially when people who are watching can learn from it. It's only those who are insecure about their facts and their ideas that they can't tolerate any kind of questioning of their intellect.

I think you're aware that in here, on talk shows and in general these days, people of opposing view points dont get together, discuss and make statements-then politely listen while the other makes a statement- And then one admits that maybe they DO see an alternative to what they believed- they yell over each other, call names and make snarky, snyde low blow comments-then bray like jackasses til the "host" interrupts for a very important commerical for head ache roll on cream or a very serious chase in LA.
There is no more intelligent exchange or consideration of ideas- its just finding fault-all destructive criticism., non concstructive and nothing is repaired or created.

Its a mire-a total cesspool. And this is even before we consider the outright LIES that are being put out there.

I'm not speaking for one side or the other right now. It all disgusts me.
