College students...?

Well, I'm coming up on the spring of my sophomore year...scary time, as I have to declare my major.

So, this is a two-part thing: are you/were you a college student?

And also, does the following sound abysmally stupid to you:

major in political science
minors in psychology and Russian.

I both am and was.

The choice of subjects doesn't sound particually odd to me.

No, but I will be a college student in less than two years.

If you want a career in a Gov't agency of some sort, sounds reasonable.

definitely been a possibility in my mind, for some time now.

'cept for a little, tiiiiiiiiny fact:

It seems like a reaosnable choice if you are a good people person. A degree choice like that leaves you working in the government in some manner trying to convince other people to do what you want.

That seems very similar to what a lot of people majored/ minored in on these forums, including myself. So no, thats definitely not abysmally stupid.

the most unfortunate thing, though, is that I am decidedly a sociopath. :p

I was in college, then wasn't, then was, then graduated.

And no, it doesn't sound stupid. My best friend majored in poli sci and minored in English and German. She works in baseball now. :D

well, I can safely say that baseball holds little interest for me :D

I was a college student (graduated in 2005), and no that doesn't sound like a stupid plan. Remember you can always change your major if you want to. :p
Myralon

indeed I can.

But hell, I'm indecisive enough without changing my major every other week.

and I really do want to graduate in 4 years :D

Hehe, I changed my major more times than I care to count - didn't settle on one til the beginning of my junior year. Still managed to graduate in four years though. :)

She does umpiring for college games and whatnot. Her ambition is to be the first female MLB ump. I told her if she does, she has to write a book and title it Balls.:p

Sounds awesome. I have a very far off (ie I will never work to achieve it) dream of being a ref for the NFL.

And I would definately read her book. :)

I was in college (now in professional school).

I double majored in History and Anthropology (started out in Computer Science though) and had nearly enough hours to minor in Linguistics.

I think that your current choice is fine. Many people end up doing something completely different than their major in college. My friend's mom was a German major and now works for a business software company (they're only in the US). My friend majored in Russian and works in the HR dept of a small Texas business. My boyfriend majored in Anthropology and Biology and now is an underwriter for an insurance company.

In the end I say study what makes you happy. You will be able to find a job with a degree, don't let people push you into making choices you don't like.
