Just bilingual? What if you speak more?
I've got four years and a month of German, and I'm going for a minor in the language so I'll eventually have eight years under my belt plus whatever I learn through other sources. I want to eventually spend time in Germany to perfect my language skills.
english, 6 years of French which left me perhaps slightly fluent, am presently learning Russian and speak it very badly.

I can't speak more than one language fluently, but I can read in two different languages: English and Latin.
Is someone considered bilingual if they can read in two different languages, or is it required that they can speak both languages fluently, as well?

bilingual = two languages
yet the poll gives you an option of 3 languages, which is more than 2... self contradiction from the topic starter
I'm trilingual, and partially fluent in a fourth language. Bow down before me.
I know enough Spanish to say I dont know how to speak it lol and I can understand VERY LITTLE French.. german maybe one or two words. :D
I speak a half dozen languages in a half assed manner, Spanish being my best I only lack vocabulary on.

Si pero nunca se usa 'tocar' en este sentido. I think you meant 'tomar'.:p

English, German, French, and I can understand Italian (but can't speak it); also I was forced to learn Latin for 5 years at school and despite all my sincere efforts I still haven't forgotten all of it yet.

English, Slovak, Czech, Polish, some German, some Spanish, some Latin. A bit of Esperanto, plus Fortran 77, Perl, Pascal, and some C.
But show me a cute girl with a Staten Island accent, and I fall to pieces speaking gibberish.

I can passably read latin, though there isn't much occasion to speak it. between elementary school, in which I took beginning level spanish 3 years in a row (hurray for moving alot when I was a kid...) and the latin, I can understand a little bit of spanish. I understood everything that crazy polyglot monk in "the name of the rose" said - where he switched back and forth at random from italian, french, spanish, latin, greek, and german...I'm also passable at old and middle english, but that's not really a seperate language, exactly.

We've had like 50 on the fact that people are retarded and can't figure out where John Kerry is directing his shitty jokes, including two from the same person on consecutive days. It's the nature of the board sadly.

Finnish as a native language, and English as a foreign one.
I've also studied Russian for a year, but not enough to actually be able to speak it. I wasted many years in school being force-fed Swedish, but I've been actively trying to forget it. So I picked the middle option.
