Rambo 4, Violence solves nothing

The fourth installment of the Rambo series of movies will be filmed in Thailand and it will feature no real guns or bombs. Thai officials have told the filmmakers to avoid too much violence. I can't wait to see Rambo ask the bad guys politely to release their hostages and send them a thank you note afterward. This should be an exciting blockbuster movie event.

We all know what most 60 year old men go to Thailand for, so I , for one, will be watching this one;)

Jeez, and what's next? A fraternity-based movie that cuts down on the partying and alcohol? Are we going to start telling movie producers, "Now go ahead and keep making comedies, but don't go trying to be funny." let's make another "Fast and the Furious" remake, but tell the drivers to observe speed limits and don't try any dangerous driving. We'll have to do another Longest Yard remake, only without all that football.

Excuse me while I go become ill.

Then why make it? A Rambo movie without explosions and shooting is basically a romantic comedy. :p

Considering Stallone is in his 60's now it shouldn't be too hard to avoid extreme violence. It'll probably just be a movie about Rambo having to fight through massive bureaucracy to receive his veteran's benefits. Lots of awesome paper-work montages culminating in a sweet petition scene at the end. Hawt.

Did Stallone just recently have to foot the bill for someone's lottery winnings or something? Why's he suddenly making sequels of his most popular movie series, Rocky and Rambo?

BANGKOK, Oct 31 (Reuters Life!) - Thailand's film chiefs have told the makers of the next Rambo sequel due to start filming in the southeast nation early next year to avoid excessive violence for fear of corrupting youth or damaging the environment.

Excessive violence? Well there's another country that is ignorant. Violence doesn't corrupt kids. It makes sense about them not wanting to damage the environment though.

"We have told them that no real guns or bombs are allowed in the national park where they will be filming. Thailand has a law banning that and they've told us they will just imitate it," she told Reuters.LOL Since when did movies use real guns anyway? After all, it's not like they just go and kill all those extras for realism's sake. And bombs? FX ftw. I'm sure actors already aren't too apt to sign up for movies where real bombs explode 10 feet away from them as is often depicted.

"We have warned them that any violence has to be reasonable because we care about young people," said Wanasiri Morakul, a director at the Thailand Film Office.
*scoffs*

The movie makers'll almost certainly just add the good stuff later, back at the studio. It probably won't take much actual footage to "seed" many more computer-generated jungle scenes...complete with bullets, bombs, and bodies!

What's even more ironic is the fighting movies that come out of Thailand. They are some of the most violent out there.
Check out Tony Jaa's offerings (Tom Yum Goong and Ong Bak). He wipes out half of Thailand (and Sydney) in those two.

Fucking awesome movies too, btw. The fight scenes are some of the best I've ever seen - and definitely the best that's come out in the last few years. Jaa's got the potential to be the next Bruce Lee. (and that be no exaggeration)

I couldn't disagree more. Jaa has good martial arts skills, but he hasn't shown himself to be anywhere near as philosophical as Lee was - not to mention the fact that he has yet to create a movie that's actually good, as opposed to just kickfodder for those who enjoy seeing others get the shit beat out of them. His movies' storylines leave MUCH to be desired, and his acting is halfassed, at best.

Bruce Lee, he is not.

Far as I'm concerned the governments can go fuck themselves for waiting this long. Too little, too late.

Actually, the original Rambo (First Blood; great f'n movie, unlike the sequels) built an entire town in Canada (I wanna say in BC) for the express purpose of blowing it up. Granted, that was 25-30 years ago. Could be the source of the Thai governments apprehension, however...

Controlled explosions, certainly, although I would argue that those are indeed 'bombs'. Even the Thai government can't think that we're going to be sending B-2's over there just for Rambo? Would be cool, however...

**Rambo has a flashback to being tortured in Nam. Flying the B-2 over Thailand, he sees a Thai village and thinks, "Meh, close enough". Lets loose with a lethal barrage.**

For Rambo V, Stallone should head back to Afghanistan and sort out all the problems he helped create fighting with his "freedom loving resistance fighters" from Rambo III.

Yah, that's right. I blame Stallone for the mess in Afghanistan.
