Actually, they'll pay your travel agent. And they'll pay such a large amount of money it boggles the mind. Twenty bucks.

Twenty bucks is a lot of money in Iran. It's enough for a pistachio nut plantation, a nine year old wife, and a stick to beat her with.

Because your tourist dollars go to support a regime that allows old men to rape nine year olds and that hangs people for being gay or being a woman who got raped?

Yeah. Offering cash incentives to travel agencies is bad because it's...uhm..and trying to attract western tourists is also bad because of that too. Next thing you know that crazy asshole is going to be talking about allowing direct flights between the two countries. And that would be awful.

Ah, breathe in that wonderful racism. I just love the delusions.

Not saying that the Iranian regime is the greatest regime around, but it's not QUITE that bad.

You're right. A pistachio nut plantation would be expensive.

Because your tourist dollars go to support a regime that allows old men to rape nine year olds and that hangs people for being gay or being a woman who got raped? For different, but just as extreme reasons, I refuse to allow my tourist dollars to support the US regime. I spin the Wheel of Regimes when it comes to where I vacation...but I had to take the US off it. It's the principle of the thing.

Considering they shit their country has gone through, I'm suprised they even have an economy, let alone an imploded one. So, yeah, you're right. It would be more expensive.

Sounded like a criticism of the Iranian theocracy to me with a mild pun on someone's name. I do hope you're not one of the "omygod u cant criticise opressive governments if they are from a different ethnic background" people

Actually, they'll pay your travel agent. And they'll pay such a large amount of money it boggles the mind. Twenty bucks.I would love to go to western Iran and visit all the very ancient places and dig into some yet unexplored tells...
Also the very artful architecture from the Islamic era would be very thrilling to visit. Iran is an immensely fascinating country and goes into one category with Egypt, Iraq, and Syria. Iran has a culture reaching back 7000 years, and the US?

Criticize a government all you want. That "mild pun" was about as 'critical' as saying "Jew York City." You can paint that as a serious social commentary regarding Jewish Influence in New York all you like - it's still just bigoted bullshit.

No, yes but only a little, nudism doesn't really work for me.

I can't avoid buying gasoline or clothes. I've got to get to work and I've got to be dressed a certain way when I get there or I get fired and go homeless. If I had a choice I would buy those products from nations that aren't governed by evil shitheads.

You know that there are quite a lot of tourists going to Iran every year, right? It's got lots of historical sites to look at and so on, and apparently the people are very friendly (at least according to the 'Lonely Planet' travel shows).

I suppose this is the Iranian tourism industry trying to save what they can with Ahmadinejad trying his best to wipe them off the map, so to speak.

So? Any money I pay in taxes already goes to a regime that bombs defenseless countries and ignores inner cities within its own borders that have degenerated to a third world standard of living.

I'd go there - archaeological tourism = teh sex.

seriously, they don't just gun down tourists... I rode the school bus with a girl from Iran - she was nice - the women in her family dressed and acted like americans. she was totally fine with me being gay, (moreso than my own american family...) and from what she said about her visits back there, the average person over there isn't really all that different either.

Why should we get half of what the lousy Americans get? Is it because we're half their seize? Are you discriminating against our (slightly) lighter population? Keep going like this, and we'll have to shut off our syrup taps. Good luck enjoying your pancakes now!

Does this offer include Aussies.

Dare I say it but I wouldn't mind going, the ancient Persian civilisation and the like fascinates me, plus scorn me for my ignorance if neccessary but what what I have seen is that Iran is a stable and modern state with big cities and the like. But to be honest I would prefere somewhere like Italy.
