ICC Champions Trophy

Final Four teams
Australia vs New Zealand
South Africa vs West Indies.
New Zealand after bowling well for the first 10 overs taking 2 early wickets let Aussie off the hook for a bit Ponting getting 50 odd and Symonds late in the innings getting 58 held the Dirty Ockers to a competitive 240-9
This is Cricket.
But apart from that who will win the ICC Champions Trophy?

It'll probably be Australia. The West Indies don't deserve it after losing to England (anyone who loses to England in an ODI deserves nothing). NZ will lose to Australia - probably be bowled out for about 180. The Windies might beat S. Africa. That looks like a tough one to call. I really don't know. But the Aussies will win.

YOu really should show a bit more respect to the Kiwis, young fellamylad.
Because of them, your cricketers have developed a superior sense of self-confidence and belief in themselves and their ability.
If the Kiwis didn't roll over and die pretty much every time the two nations played, the Aussie cricketers might well start to doubt their own cricketing talent.
Then where would you be?

That's interesting, because I don't think he comes across as likeable at all. He is an incredible bowler though. Personally, because he is so unnerringly accurate & deadly, I think he is some sort of sporting "terminator", developed in secret by the AIS. Don't be surprised if we see more McGrath-like Australian bowlers springing up around the country over the next few years. :p

See, the thing is that he takes Wickets. Most of the time batsmen find it very difficult to deal with his perfection.
Unfortunately the Australian cricket team as a whole doesn't come across as particularly likable, so I stick with McGrath being my favourite (even though perhaps not particularly "nice"). He does play a lot of pranks on his team members though, which is always good.

The Aussies do not need a major defeat to team they consider nobodies. The last time that happened they went mental, got some awesome new players, and reasserted themselves as the best in world Cricket. Why give them anymore motivation?
Quite frankly, I believe Australia may well lose their nerve. Gilchrist, MacGrath, Hayden, Langer and Martyn have all suggested that this will be thier last test series, and given the extant expectation within Australia, I believe they'll buckle under the pressure.

This is how Champions behave when they get the Trophy
Express news service
Posted online: Tuesday, November 07, 2006 at 0000 hrs IST
Mumbai, November 6
When Australia captain Ricky Ponting tapped BCCI president Sharad Pawar on his shoulder and gestured with his forefinger last night, suggesting that the smiling Union Minister hand over the Champions Trophy, he would never have expected to hit headlines.
Today, that uncouth gesture drew flak from all sides with batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar terming it “unpleasant”, chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar calling it “appalling” and BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah saying it may have been “unintentional” but certainly “not in good taste”.
Pawar, in return, had gestured back to Ponting, asking him to step up to receive the trophy. Then, a bunch of Australian players, apparently overjoyed at receiving the one title that has eluded them all these years, virtually pushed Pawar off the dais so that they could pose with the trophy for the flashbulbs.
Ponting, who in the past has been put under watch by Cricket Australia for his on-field behaviour, had already crossed the line on Sunday night by publicly backing umpire Darrell Hair who was sacked for the ball-tampering fiasco involving Pakistan at the Oval in August.
“I’d be disappointed for him (Hair)... He’s done what he believed was right at the time for the good of the game,” Ponting said after his team beat West Indies by eight wickets at the Brabourne.
Tendulkar termed the Pawar incident as “uncalled for” behaviour against a person who was dear to all cricketers.
In response to a query at a press conference, Tendulkar said, “I wasn’t watching the proceedings because I was travelling, but from what I heard (from others) it was an unpleasant experience which was uncalled for (action)... Firstly, it should not have happened. It’s important to show respect to the person who is so dear to cricketers and is involved with cricket. So it’s good that we avoid such incidents.”
Board secretary Shah, who sought to play down the incident, told this paper, “I also saw it yesterday and watched the video footage today. I personally I feel it was unintentional. But it was not in good taste.” Vengsarkar, former Test legend, told this paper, “You expect such behaviour from uneducated people. Cricketers touring abroad are ambassadors of the game. If they wanted to pose for photographs, they could have politely requested him. This is appalling.”
Anshuman Gaekwad struck a conciliatory tone, saying, “They had won the Trophy for the first time, and the team was very happy. They wouldn’t have done it knowingly, so it shouldn’t be taken seriously. But looking at the gravity of the matter, they should have been a little more careful,” he said.

Australia give Ashes fans warning
Australia have warned they will be taking a tough approach on fans whose sole intention during the Ashes is to spoil the fun for everyone else.
Cricket Australia has reviewed its policy after complaints by South Africa and Sri Lanka players who claimed they were the target of racist taunts.
CA chief James Sutherland said: "Come along, enjoy yourself and have fun.
"But if your idea of fun is to spoil someone else's day, we will identify you and we will take action."
The Ashes between Australia and England begin in Brisbane on 23 November and CA wants there to be a great atmosphere at the grounds.
But in an attempt to stamp out unruly fans there will be more security guards at matches and closed circuit television will be increased. CA has also adopted the International Cricket Council's anti-racism initiatives.
Sutherland added: "We want people coming to grounds to be able to enjoy the cricket in comfort, to enjoy the buzz of being a part of a large crowd, to have fun with family and friends and to give vocal support to their team.
"We don't want to be killjoys, we want to make sure everyone who attends matches this summer has a positive and enjoyable experience.
"We can't promise to totally eradicate bad behaviour that stems from a minority group.
"No doubt there will be some idiots over the summer who do the wrong thing.
"But we can assure fans that we will do all we can this season and in subsequent seasons to make their day the best it can be."

To be totally honest, I really don't care about rugby results (either code). I take an interest when the RWC is on, but otherwise no. I'd prefer Australia to win, but if they don't it's no skin off my nose. If it's a match between two other countries (eg NZ & England), I wouldn't even know it was on, let alone take an interest in the result.
Edit: I don't mean to sound rude BTW, just that rugby is a non-issue for me.

'Do you come with the prize?'
Of course one or all of them would reply.
'I cum everytime.'
