Trick or Treaters

Is my sense of what is appropriate skewed? I had a lot of kids coming by tonight, some of them a little on the old side (15-16), but they were with smaller kids, so that's not a huge issue. But then the new neighbors came by. I had only talked to her before and thought she was pretty strange (I think she's a recovering addict of some sort, she has the look), but tonight they came, in costume (sort of), trick or treating - I mean, they're on the far side of 40, for the love of god, what business do they have trick or treating? Being a fairly non-confrontational person, I gave them candy, but, since I ran out of candy before the kids had all come by, I can't help but resent them for the fact that the candy they took was candy that I wasn't able to give to a little kid. We need an upper age limit on trick or treaters (parents with kids don't count).

why?
if adults want to put on costumes and have some fun playing like kids, what's the harm?
Infact, when I get low on candy, I turn off the lights. leaves some for me, but also, I have a bit extra incase some kid doesn't understand that Lights Out means no candy.
besides, trick or treating is a great way to meet the neighbors.

I still try to trick or treat. :( Not that I've gone in the past couple years, but I wanted to. Hell, I just love to dress up and get candy, although I give it all away in the end except for really good candy like those mini Musketeer bars.
Hey, you could have given them alcohol instead....then you wouldn't have to resent them from stealing candy from a baby. ;)
If I came knocking at your door, would you give me a little candy bag? Those are the cutest!

No, but I might give you a peanut butter cup or a bag of Hershey's Kissables.

Oh, those are candy I give away. I don't like peanut butter; although, I may eat the Kissables, but I don't really like them too much. I'm a dark chocolate person myself.....mmmm.....dark chocolate. And real dark chocolate, not the crap that has like 45% in it. My personal dark preference is 88% cocoa, can you do that?

I think its great, free candy. That said don't send your kids to my house. I like to get drunk on Halloween and teach kids the joys of heroin :p

I'm an uncultured American, what would have 88% cocoa, Godiva? I could give you a Godiva truffle.

Oh Dove's dark is only 65% I believe. That disappoints me, but I do still love Dove's dark. Godiva though....you can't go wrong with Godiva. :D

I changed it. My mother found a place that has 70-80% cocoa... large bars... ;)

Americans, no offense guys I'm one too, have no idea how to do chocolate. More European brands have dark chocolate. Lindt is the only one that I found that makes high percentage cocoa chocolate in the states. Otherwise, you need to order it from another country and ship on over.

No, I am not a connoisseur of chocolate....I am just particular about what I eat. I don't like too many sweet things.
I must be that bitter. ;)

I can buy 99% cacao chocolate bars (http://open.meiji.co.jp/sweets/chocolate/chocokoka/product/bar.html) at the convenience store here....
Because the candy is for kids.
oh really (http://www.beerliquors.com/giftbaskets/chocolate_liquor_bottles.htm)?
and there are other adult themed candy out there that I cannot post due to rules.

*cries* That's my favorite......
I seriously love 99% cocao. I can only eat about two pieces at once, but it's still oh so good. Although, it makes you want a drink afterward and gets you really wierd looks from other people.
*misses my chocolate*

Penny. Scarey little place at times, although Halloweens are usually nice here.
