I like Rock, R&B, Classical, Pop, Ethnic (Japanese) and Filk.

I like everything except HipHop, R&B and anything too electronic.

Classical, most stuff from many centuries ago, the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack...

What is your favorite type of music?

None, really. I don't listen to music much, and I haven't got a favourite genre. I can enjoy music of most types.

Oh, and "ethnic" isn't a music type. "Ethnic" can mean anything. We've all got an ethnicity (in fact, most of us in the "West" are of mixed ethnicity).

Reminds me of a woman on the Weakest Link who was describing her clothing as "ethnic" and, when asked "where from?", named the market she had bought it at. I chuckled at her stupidity (as did, naturally, Robinson), but her ignorance was interesting in terms of how people view and use the word "ethnic" - as refering to a sort of a generic, all-inclusive Otherness suggesting that all ethnic Others have shared traits which we haven't got, since "we", supposedly, are not "ethnic".

Anyway... Sorry for the hijack. ;)

*sigh* of course i meant relativily speaking. Obviously all countries consider not their language or common style music "foreign" or ethnic, anyway, what else i can do? name all the countries in the world's kinds of music? and why not alien music? we dont want to be descriminate. i hope you get my point.

oh forgot to add one. Soundtracks. most of my stuff is from soundtracks.

heh, i like that :). reminds me of the kind of things some of the friends of one of my best friends writes. there's is an 'anti-folk' movement, not necessarily sci-fi themed but the lyrics usually have a dry satyrical humour to them which i like. i think it's called anti-folk cuz the songs tell stories that are a bit twisted or off the wall, and they use traditional instruments but mess around with the time signatures and dissonance and that sort of thing.

I like classical (the violent kind), rock, ethnic:celtic and ethnic:arabic.

and for all of you, jeez doesn't anyone like reggae or dancehall? beanie man, sasha, sean paul? no one? i love it, ive always wanted to go to a place like jamaica, i think the jamaican reggae voice is amazing,i know its hard to understand what in gods name are they saying, jk, but i like it so much. i myself love hip hop, most people who dont like hip hop are automatically biased and often havent even heard many hip hop songs, they heard one dumb rap song, and stereotype all of it. it grows to you, jay z, ll coolj, lil kim, i soon find i cant live without it. i do like jazz, rock, soul, in fact, like almost all most all kinds of music, although some to a less degree. one music that makes me physically ill: boy band music.
