With the release of the new pokemon game for DS, I figured the nerds of NS are bound to have played it, or still play one of the versions.
Me, I have the real Red and Silver versions, plus emulators for about 6 others. Yes, I know, obsessed and all that. But its so much fun!
What do ya reckon?

I agree. It was quite entertaining when I first got a copy of red. Sadly, when I lost that red I replaced it with a yellow, which was a mistake. On the plus side, silver was better than yellow, but I lost interest in that after a while as well.

I never liked pokemon, it was the names(and the fact that they repeated them in annoying voices) that turned me off. "Charizard" "Blastoid" "Ditto" come on, I was waiting for them to reveal "Lampshademon"
Just being around my friends while they were talking about it embarassed me horribly.

Wow, I haven't thought about pokemon in years. I used to have Red, I think, and I still have a bunch of old pokemon cards somewhere. I used to be cool cause I could get the Japanese versions of the cards. Does anyone know if people still collect them? Are they worth anything?

Yeah, you should see some of the newer ones, they're worse... but still, the gane was fun, admit it.

You're asking for compassion from something aimed at roughly the 8-12 year old boy range? Have you ever met a 10 year old? :p

It doesn't even teach equality, but subconsciously put slavery into the minds of 8-12 year olds. Besides, I'm sure the game appeals to more 10 year old boys than girls. This is what we're teaching the next generation, particularly males: it's okay to turn your animals into slaves. *sigh*

It may or may not help your crept out state, but they werent really originally bred for cuteness, although that IS their main reason to exist now. In theory fainting goats were originally kept as a breed to be mixed with sheep in wolf country. The goats fainted and sacrificed themselves to wolves thus saving the more valuable sheep from predation.

Well, at least that makes logical sense and is practical to use...not using fainting sheep to be "cute"...

Lemme guess: You try to leave town, get stopped by your Uncle/Cousin/Combination of the Two who takes you two his lab and gives you a pokemon. You head to to the town ten feet north, battle your rival on the outskirts of town, head back to the lab, find out that your pokemon likes you. Get directions to first gime and pokeballs.

No. Something else. I remember because someone on another forum got a copy of it but didn't read Japanese, and someone who did had to lead him through it.

I gave it up when they kept finding new pokemon.

Of course, <3 the Hedberg.
But anyone who plays Pokemon simply to catch them all is missing the point and quite frankly is wasting a large amount of time when they could be playing the game in a much better way.
Find the Pokemon you want, train them to be strong, kick ass. Lather, rinse, repeat.
