This is for a presentation I am currently working on. If you could answer the folloing pole question
Do you consider your voting patterns or political views to be strongly motivated by a particular ideology or abstract concept?
It is vital that only British users answer this questionare

i'm british, and yes.
i vote on ideology first, and issues second.

and why is that?
Because I am looking into if British people are less politcally motivated by ideologies when compared to other nations

Well I'd seriously apreciate it if you did, that way I can recalculate the result with your vote in mind

This isnt funny. I'm using this research in a presentation I am doing which will be marked towards my degree. I suggest you stop playing games now.

um... to bad. what difference does a single vote make anyway?
Would this be considered viable research? You have no way of knowing whether the results were contaiminated.

Its only anecdotal in the whole scheme of things. I think the professors understand that if I were to do this, I would be unable to go to continal Europe, the US and here polling in the real world.

A significent diffrence if there is a limited number of voters.

You could try again but using a public poll. It wouldn't be perfect, but you'd be far less likely to get people voting in a poll you don't want them to vote in.
If you are going to do that, make sure you ask in the Moderation forum for the original threads to be closed/deleted, and put in the first post of the new threads an explanation as to why you want people to vote again.

Screwing the result up for no good reason is... pretty lame. But I guess children will be children. :p
I voted no, because ideology is the result of almost everything bad that has happened in this world. That and nature.

This isnt a matter to be laughed about. If you would be so kind and good natured as to tell me in which direction you voted. It isnt hard, it isnt difficult and it isnt a big deal for you.

Let's see. You are getting a sample from a group who play a Politics Based Game. I can't think of a more corrupt sample. You will get very few people saying they decide based on personality. Even with a public poll, most people don't want to sound like uneducated idiots, so they'll also deny they pick on personality, while realistically, a lot of people do.

It's quite likely there are several others voting in this and the other poll specifically to mess it up. Welcome to the internet. Use a better researchg method next time.

Not at all. My Poli Sci Research Methods prof would have flushed this one. Especially when the results are knowingly contaminated. (and by more than one poster.)

if tits like Swilatia wont tell you how they voted, make a new poll public so you can see who votes for what, and discount the ones you know arnt british.
on a side note i voted no, i will look at policies, then ideology. At least i will when i vote next GE. (im 17 now, yuo may want to not include me or do a whole new bit on your presentation comparing the oldies with the young 'uns or something)
good luck with your degree.

I vote for the candidate of the party whose manifesto I disagree with least, temporarily working under the assumption it's not complete bollocks.
I don't really know how that fits "voting according to ideology", as it tends to be specific issues that are more important; for instance, I wouldn't vote for any party that wished to introduce ID cards, even if I agreed with the rest of their policies.
I also wouldn't vote for people I strongly disliked; eg. New Labour because Tony Blair is a smarmy, lying bastard and Gordon Brown is a thieving git (and probably a lying bastard, but I have no evidence of that), so that likely chalks one up for personality, too.

Even a public poll won't account for people with unknown locations.
