Australia's time zones are really buggered up. Tasmania went into DST a few weeks ago. Queensland doesn't, so they're an hour behind the eastern states. Western Australia doesn't, so they're three hours behind the eastern states. South Australia & the Northern Territory do, but they're 1/2 an hour behind the eastern states all the time. Mucho confusion abounds.

Sometimes Canada has 4 hours of sun during the day or summin...
Well, exactly; the more you put the clocks forward, the further away from the true time you're getting (ie midday being when the sun is at its highest point). If the sun rises at 10, for example, and you put your clocks forwards two hours, then you're getting up at a true time of 8, before first light.

When the U.S. went on extended DST in 1974 and 1975, Department of Transportation studies found that observing DST in March and April saved 10,000 barrels of oil a day.

I pulled myself out of bed at half-ten, faffed around for an hour, looked at the clock on the PC and it said 10:25. Then I remembered and thought "Hurrah!" and felt virtuous as I'd got out of bed at 9:30am on a Sunday.
I prefer BST to GMT, actually, although I do like going from GMT to BST because of the extra hour. So I can't really decide whether I'd prefer:
1) Permanent BST.
2) a 25-hour day.
As for the problems with 1), well, anyone stupid enough to be out of bed and going somewhere early enough that it's dark deserves to get run over, really. It's going to be dark at 6pm when I'm walking home no matter what, but at least on BST it's slightly less cold.
