Some people have the bizarre idea that we have to "confront" muslims if we want to stop violence (since creating fear and anger always makes people behave more reasonably :rolleyes: ).

However, what we really need is to integrate them as quickly as we can, without giving up any of our own liberties. Rather considering them as separate to us, we should consider them the same, thus expecting the same standard of behaviour and more importantly, making them feel that they have to live up to the same standard.

If humans are good at anything other than laziness, it's conformism. As much as I generally dislike conformism, the desire to conform, to be part of the group is what will reduce violence, not separation or shows of hatred.

But people will only try to live by the same standard as others if they feel that they have the opportunity to be part of the group. If they don't feel that they have that option, they will see the group as "the enemy" and seek to destroy it.

Integration would work great if muslims want to integrate. hopefully, the newer generations, exposed to western culture from birth, will want to integrate more so.

That's already happening. Basically, we need to do what we can to make our culture attractive. They respect principles, so we need to make it clear that our ideas, such as "freedom of speech" are principles to aspire to, not just blasphemies we do due to lack of principle.

I've always wondered why Europe has such a problem with muslim immigrants. The ones over here are fine, hell most of them are indistinguishable from native Americans(not Amerindians you dolt) besides appearance obviously. What is the big difference with Europe? Are the muslims that immigrate there more radical than ours? Or is their society less accepting than ours?

Well, America is primarily made up of immigrants (some more recent than others). Europe, however, is full of very old nations whose people have lived in the same place for a long time. Other than that, I don't know why people react more strongly. Higher population density? I knew a couple of muslim guys at school and they were perfectly nice - it's when we stop regarding people as individuals and start demonizing their "type" that problems occur.

The Muslims in America come from East Asia mostly, Euro Muslims come from West Asia/North Africa. It's completely different.

Most of the muslims in Dearborn are Arabs/Paks/Iranians.....

Muslims have lived in Europe for thousands of years. Part of Turkey is in Europe. Europe is closer geographically, culturally, politically and economically to the muslim arab heartland than the US

When a Muslim moves to the US, its essentially a clean break as there is no existing diaspora of any significance there and by geography.

Muslims moving to Europe are joining huge communities who have much stronger links to the old country. its easier to become radicalised in a large and organised community.

Spain and France in particular and to a lesser extent Italy and Greece have strong links to the arab world.
