... OMGWTF. I turned on my computer and everything is tinged dark blue. No other colours apart blue and shades of white and black are displaying. Any ideas?

About 4 weeks ago i took a computer to my sister, the screen was abit funny so i hit it for a bit.- That didn't work.
But after waiting 15 minutes it came right.

Try that easy 2 step process.
Hit and wait.

My monitor used to have a name, I think, but now it's only listed under everything as "Default Monitor". Gah the blueness is hurting my eyes.

I second this. Hit it and hope. If that doesn't work, hit it again.

Check if the cable is plugged in properly, both to the monitor and the PC.

I love you. :fluffle: :D

Huzzah, it worked! I'm probably incredibly stupid for not trying that, but I hadn't taken out any cables and it's never done this before. I tried to jiggle it loose again to see if I got the same effect but nothing changed...
Cannot think of a name

When my computer travels all the blacks turn green and the screen looks all funky. It got much worse when I had to have the dc converter replaced. Usually it would sort itself out eventually, usually by putting it to sleep and then waking it back up, etc. The last two times nothing was working.

That is until I tripped over the chord and sent it stumbling to the ground.

Fixed.

Started going wacky again, a friend was over, tripped over the chord (I really need to move that chord) and it's fixed again. It's like some sort of clumsy Fonzie method of computer repair. I now believe that all problems can be fixed by knocking it off the counter a few times.

Try it.

Not responsible for any outcome that results from this obviously stupidminded method, seriously-does it sound like I know what I'm talking about? But it totally worked for me, so whatever...

Step 3.
If you've got a problem, hit it with a hammer.
If that doesn't work get a bigger hammer!:D

Jiggle the cable; it's possible teh cable is coming loose. This is good if you have little money. You could always try the auto-adjust feature on it to restore the colours.
Not bad

It's hard to cheer a monitor up once it has a bad case of the blues.
Euthanise it and get adifferent happier monitor. It's the humane thing to do.

Your monitor is going through a "blue period"
You should do your best to maintain an encouraging attitude to your monitor during this time.
Try to respect it's right to artistic expression, even if it means you can't look at porn the same way.
Remember ... if it was good enough for Picasso, it's good enough for your monitor.

Seriously, checking the cables is the correct advice. Also, could anyone have fiddled with it to prank you?

your monitor should eat plenty of this for a shiny coat and less blue :)

Or... on second thought, you could take it out back and go the Old Yeller route.

Or you go into the menu on it useing the buttons under the screen, and select Deguass. Do it even if it's fine, it's cool.

Uh... something JUST hit me... is this a CRT or LCD monitor?

Has to be CRT - LCDs get dead pixels and they tend to go light blue or white or pink. If the whole screen goes blue, that's normally what bad CRTs do.
